Brand-owner Signify has announced a [dedicated app for Samsung TVs]( that will sync your Philips Hue lighting with the action on screen. Why does it matter? The Philips Hue app for Samsung TVs means you can get an Ambilight-style effect without needing a Philips TV. What's my take? Adding a dedicated Philips Hue app to Samsung TVs from 2022 models on is a great move. You can now sync your room's Hue lighting with whatever is playing on the set, to expand the experience greatly. This is something Philips has been offering with its own TVs for some time, both with Hue compatibility and its own Ambilight system, and I'm a big fan. The only stumbling block for Samsung TV owners could be the price of the app - it's not free. In fact, you'll have to stump up £115 / $130 as a one-off payment to use it. Still, considering it works with all content, including Netflix, Disney+ and gaming, it'll save you having to buy a separate Philips Hue TV Sync Box, which will give you the same effect but is considerably more expensive.  Sony and Honda's Afeela concept car is happening, on roads by 2026 SONY What's happened? Sony used its press conference at CES 2023 to [reveal the Afeela concept car]( that has been created in partnership with Honda. Why does it matter? The Sony Honda Mobility car was rolled out on stage and while it looks similar to the previous concepts, it features a digital front which Sony has said will be interactive and show various timely information, such as charging status. What's my take? Sony announced its first foray into cars back in 2020, but things have moved on a bit since then - with the formation of Sony Honda Mobility in partnership with the vehicle manufacturer. Now the combined off-shoot firm has shown its first concept car and it looks pretty snazzy. Perhaps most interesting though will be the amount of tech it'll cram in, thanks to Sony handling the systems and software. One as yet unconfirmed rumour that has been going around is that PlayStation 5 tech will be included to play next-gen games when parked, charging or for rear passengers to use. Certainly, all eyes will be on the Afeela when it becomes a road model in 2026.  Panasonic Lumix S5II initial review: The camera we've been waiting for? POCKET-LINT What's happened? We were seriously impressed with the Lumix S5 when it launched back in 2020, and now Panasonic is back with a new and improved version. To be clear, the S5II isn't replacing the S5, but will instead be available alongside it as a more premium option. Our quick verdict We've only spent a brief amount of time with the Panasonic Lumix S5II, and it was using pre-release firmware, so we'll hold off on giving our verdict until we see the final product. However, what we can say, is that this is a seriously impressive piece of equipment. The image stabilisation is superb and the new phase hybrid autofocus system puts this offering head and shoulders above the brand's other cameras.
