Get them to [sign up here.]( [Facebook]([Twitter]([Instagram]( [Website](  Flexible displays are back on the agenda at CES 2023 SAMSUNG What's happened? Both [LG Display]( and [Samsung]( will be showing off more flexible display devices at CES 2023. Why does it matter? Flexible displays are being pitched as the future of our mobile and computing devices - and LG and Samsung want to be at the forefront. What's my take? Aside from launching lots of new products you can buy, CES promises to show off a stack of devices you might want to buy in the future. That's the idea behind these sorts of demos and concepts. Samsung will show off a device with a screen that slides out as well as folds, so you can turn a compact display into something much larger. And, LG will show an 8-inch folding device that can be folded both ways, alongside panels for cars and folding laptops. Many of these solutions are starting to appear in consumer devices, but it's always worth keep an eye on the suppliers to see what they can technically manage.  Arlo scrapping free cloud storage on older cameras POCKET-LINT What's happened? Arlo has announced that it will [sunset some of its older cameras' biggest selling-points]( at the start of 2024, by ending its support for some of these features. Why does it matter? It's part of a new "end of life policy" and has wide-reaching implications for those with older Arlo products installed in their homes. What's my take? One of the things that made Arlo stand out in its early days, was that it offered free 7-day cloud storage. It meant you could plug and play its cameras, avoiding a subscription. As time rolled on, however, Arlo moved over to more advanced features, more AI services, and it was all backed up by paid membership. The news that Arlo is ending that free storage will draw a line under what was a great chapter in home security - and for some, disappointment. At the same time, those older devices don't stand up to the quality or the experience that the more recent models do. You'll just have to accept that times have changed and home security will now come with a monthly cost.  Acer Chromebook 516 GE review: All fun and games POCKET-LINT What's happened? The first Chromebooks were modest devices, intended only to provide a lightweight, affordable laptop that could handle basic web browsing, email and a spot of work in Microsoft Office. Recently however, Chromebooks have spread their wings a little. That's meant larger screens and more powerful processors - and some of them have even set their sights on the gaming scene. That’s very much the case with Acer’s Chromebook 516 GE - or ‘gaming edition’ - which boasts a high-quality 16-inch display and speedy 12th-generation Intel processor. Our quick verdict Taken on its own terms, the Chromebook 516 GE proves to be surprisingly successful at bringing gaming to the Chromebook market. Its reliance on subscription-based streaming services for gaming won’t suit everyone - after all, you’re paying a monthly subscription in order to play games that you’ve already paid for. But, if you do have a library of games that you can use with GeForce Now - and a fast enough broadband connection - the affordable Chromebook 516 GE could provide a genuine alternative to an expensive PC gaming rig.
