A [leak shows evidence]( that 2023 Pixel phones will gain staggered HDR support, something that's not possible with the main sensor on the Pixel 6 and 7 series. Why does it matter? HDR photography typically works by blending a series of under and over-exposed images to create a single photo with a wider dynamic range. Staggered HDR, on the other hand, uses three exposures taken in rapid succession - short, medium and long. What's my take? The Pixel 7 has only been out a couple of months, but this leak addressing a feature of the Pixel 8 is pretty specific in its detail. It points to a change in the hardware behind the camera, suggesting that the Pixel 8 will use the Samsung Isocell GN2 sensor, which supports this method of HDR capture. I've long been a fan of what the Pixel is trying to achieve with photography: despite having access to just about any phone that gets launched, the Pixel draws me back because I love the camera experience. The problem for Google is staying ahead of the pack. Roll on 2023's launches!  Elon Musk says he'll eventually resign as Twitter CEO, when a replacement is lined up POCKET-LINT What's happened? Elon Musk ran a poll asking if he should step down as head of Twitter. [Twitter users said yes](. Why does it matter? Musk has made several policy decisions based on Twitter polls, but now he has to abide by the will of the people and step aside. What's my take? Twitter has been in a flat spin since Musk took over with policy flip-flopping all over the place. Musk probably thought he'd get a mandate for his changes to Twitter through this vote. Unfortunately 58% of voters said they wanted him out of the way - so a replacement CEO will be found to take over Twitter. That's no bad thing, because Twitter has been staggering around with Muskian freedom and could do with a steady hand. There's the small matter of Tesla share plummeting too, perhaps suggesting that Musk's overexposure might not be the best thing for his business ventures.  A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR Find the perfect videogame Christmas gifts with Kinguin SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT Christmas is just around the corner, and you might be rushing to get the ideal gift for friends and family. We've always considered Philips Hue and other smart lighting as especially useful during Christmas. Coloured lights can really make a home feel festive. Now the brand clearly agrees as it has added a product designed to shine most during the holiday season. The Philips Hue Festavia string lights can be used in any party situation (if indoors), but are clearly best served wrapped around a Christmas tree or dangling from an internal window. Our quick verdict The Philips Hue Festavia string lights are a great option for indoors decoration during the holiday season. There are plenty of lights - 250 - to wrap around a decent-sized tree and numerous options to set the mood for Christmas. Some might bemoan the lack of different string lengths, or the ability to use them outdoors, but we expect further models to appear somewhere down the line. For now, these are a great, joyful option to make your festive lighting more smart, if only a little pricey.
