Amazon's Alexa smart assistant will lose the company around $10 billion this year alone, [according to a new report](. It claims that most hardware is sold at a loss. Why does it matter? Amazon expected people to use their Echos to order toilet rolls and other consumables using their voice. Instead, they're asking it to remind them when to take their dinner out of the oven. What's my take? While many are distracted by Black Friday deals on Amazon, this story about Alexa not meeting Amazon's expectations is really interesting. We've all enjoyed Amazon's amazingly cheap speakers and that's certainly helped Alexa gain dominance in the sector - not to mention underpinning many smart home networks. But, what happens if the Alexa bubble bursts? A smart assistant that doesn't evolve won't stay smart for long. Could this bring about the end of cheap speakers? How Amazon treats Alexa is something we should all be keeping an eye on.  Don't expect PlayStation 6 or Xbox Series X 2 until 2028 at the earliest POCKET-LINT What's happened? The next generation of games consoles - which we'll dub the PlayStation 6 and Xbox Series X 2 for now - [won't be released for "many years"](. Why does it matter? "The next new generation of consoles are not expected to be released before the fall of 2028 at the very earliest," said Microsoft in reply to the concerns of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority surrounding its Activision takeover. What's my take? Sometimes news comes from the strangest of places and with Microsoft being investigated over the Activision takeover, we now have something of a loose timeline for the next-gen console launch. That's reassuring in many ways: it means there's plenty of life left in the current generation to knuckle down and enjoy them - and probably buy that [storage expansion for the Xbox]( or [the PS5]( that you've been putting off. Exactly what's going to happen with Activision, however, remains to be seen.  A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR Claim amazing discounts on Aqara's DIY smart security systems this Black Friday AQARA November is here, so Aqara's Black Friday deals are upon us! It still baffles us that there aren't more gaming earbuds from well-known brands out there - true wireless options that could act as a one-stop shop for your audio needs if you're a gamer. The likes of EPOS' GTW 270 have shown that good wireless earbud audio can work for gaming, but often lack some key features that make them non-starters. Can HyperX reverse that trend with the Cloud Mix Buds? Our quick verdict HyperX is onto something here - a set of earbuds that works with consoles and PCs as well as your phone, with sound quality that's genuinely creditable. They're still perhaps a little niche, but we think there's a lot of potential here. [Read our review](  In Case You Missed it Save $300 on the brand new [Surface Laptop 5 for Black Friday](. --- The Witcher 3's next-gen update has been revealed, [and it looks wild](. --- The Roborock S7 is [now $240 cheaper at $409.99]( (was $649.99).
