Apple has [officially confirmed the move to USB-C]( for future devices, including iPhone, AirPods and accessories. Why does it matter? In a fireside chat with The Wall Street Journal, the company's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Greg Joswiak, revealed that Apple will be switching to USB-C due to new EU guidelines even though he doesn't believe it's the right move: What's my take? Joswiak told WSJ's Joanna Stern that he thinks the move could cause a mountain of e-waste, with billions of Lightning cables to become redundant: "We think the approach would have been better environmentally and better for our customers to not have a government be that prescriptive," he said. However, you have to start somewhere. And, that train of thought presumes everyone will automatically upgrade to a USB-C iPhone as soon as they appear. In truth, while Apple will adopt the standard from the end of 2024, it could take years for its customers to ditch Lightning devices - the transition will be staggered. Lightning cables will still end up binned, but over a long period of time. In return, the new standardisation should mean that there will be less waste in future. It's worth also remembering that Apple already uses USB-C connectivity for its MacBooks and iPad Pro models, so in many ways the EU directive standardises Apple's own cabling too. Surely that can't be a bad thing? Disney+ is new home for Doctor Who in the US and Europe BBC STUDIOS What's happened? The BBC and Disney are partnering for future series of Doctor Who, with [Disney+ becoming the new home]( for upcoming seasons of the show outside of the UK and Ireland. Why does it matter? That includes the next season, featuring Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor, which will be available exclusively on Disney+ in the US and Central Europe, and the BBC - including iPlayer - in the UK and Ireland. What's my take? The deal between Disney and the BBC will kick-in from November 2023, with three specials starring the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, in his surprise return as the Fourteenth. It will then continue into the Gatwa years, after he takes over as the Fifteenth Doctor next Christmas. There are two main takeaways from the partnership. First, that the popularity of Doctor Who continues to build, even after 60 years on TV. And second, that streaming services are now king. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for the Time Lord's adventures everywhere outside of the UK and Ireland going forward and that gives the show a big boost as it begins a new chapter. Moto Razr (2022) review: Flexible champ POCKET-LINT What's happened? When Motorola brought back the Razr a few years ago, there was a lot of excitement - undoubtedly fuelled by nostalgic memories of the original which was one of the most popular phones in the world. But then, after releasing a 5G-enabled sequel, things went a bit quiet on the Razr front. Now, two years later, a new, cheaper model has arrived. Our quick verdict There's a lot to like about the latest Razr from Motorola. The company took a couple of years out and addressed a handful of key issues that stopped the previous model from being an instant recommendation. We now have a proper big screen on the inside (and it's good), we have a hinge that can hold itself at an angle, and we have a price tag under the magic £1000 mark in the UK. [Read our review](.
