Microsoft wants to bring the Xbox Store to mobile and take on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, [it has confirmed.]( Why does it matter? The plan is for Microsoft to be allowed to buy up companies and then offer popular content and games so that gamers will take a plunge rather than using the App Store or Play Store instead. What's my take? After the slog that Epic Games went through, it's a surprise to see that Microsoft plans to essentially take the same route and bypass the restrictions that mobile device platforms have in place. While Android is a little more open - so you can install a different store - Apple is much more locked down. It's easy to see that this might be a non-starter, but that's not to say that the situation will remain the same in the future. With the [rise of handheld gaming devices]( it might be that a future Xbox Store is ideally positioned to supply games, giving gamers a cleaner route to finding titles and incentivising developers. As these details appeared in a filing presented to the UK's Competition and Markets Authority - and are tied up in the wrangling over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard - we don't expect to see any sort of commercial launch soon. Samsung Galaxy S23 leak reveals camera specs, CPU, and more POCKET-LINT What's happened? We're still months away from Samsung announcing its new Galaxy S23 lineup, but [a new leak]( might have confirmed the base model's specs already. Why does it matter? The Samsung Galaxy S23 isn't due to launch until February 2023 - and the leaks have already started. What's my take? Samsung is perhaps the most leaky of leaky companies, but outside of Apple, its devices also garner the most attention. This leak focuses on the standard S23, rather than the + or Ultra model that you can expect to have higher specification. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is rumoured - expected to launch in a couple of weeks - while a 6.1-inch AMOLED display seems to be keeping this phone in the position it currently occupies. A 50-megapixel main camera sits alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide and 10-megapixel telephoto, which doesn't sound like huge change either. At this point in time, it looks safe and iterative - but the most important thing about phones these days isn't the hardware, it's the new AI magic they weave. LG's C Series has been one of the sweet spots in the manufacturer's popular OLED range for a few years now, by getting the balance between performance and price spot on. This year's C2 looks, on paper, to be on to a similar thing. Our quick verdict With the C2, LG strikes an almost perfect balance between performance, design and value. Helped by new evo panel technologies and a herculean processor, it’s both a brilliant movie screen, and a top-notch gaming display.
