Sky Stream [is now available in the UK]( on either an 18-month or 30-day rolling contract, so could suit many different types of viewers and pockets. Why does it matter? It comprises a small Sky Stream puck device that you plug into your TV via HDMI and a voice remote. You connect it to the internet through Wi-Fi or Ethernet and away you go. What's my take? When Sky Q launched in 2016, I rolled my eyes and couldn't believe that Sky wasn't moving to a service that was delivered over the internet. Since that time, of course, we've seen a streaming boom and something of a reshaping of the market. It's understandable why Sky would want to stick to the existing model it had, broadcasting all that content and allowing people to record it: it played to the company's strengths. But, with the launch of Sky Stream, it feels like we're getting closer to where I thought Sky would go in 2016, with a small set-top box designed for streaming rather than recording. That means you can just connect it to your TV and get access to Sky services without the need for a dish. Sky Stream basically offers the same sort of experience as Sky Glass and that means access to content isn't always as straightforward as Sky Q, but it also means no dish, access to a monthly subscription and ease of setup. - [What is Sky Stream, how much does it cost and how can I get it?]( - [Sky Glass vs Sky Stream: Which Sky over broadband service suits you best?]( A future iPad dock could turn it into a smart home display POCKET-LINT What's happened? Apple is reportedly [working on a new type of iPad dock]( that would turn it into a large touchscreen smart home display. Why does it matter? The accessory, sold separately, would allow an iPad to do double duty while Apple continues to work on a refreshed HomePod with a screen of its own. What's my take? Google recently announced plans to sell a dock for its forthcoming Pixel Tablet and now Apple might be following suit. It's something that Amazon already offers for the Fire Tablet, meaning you can turn it into an Echo Show, ideal for home control and meaning your tablet is still useful when you're not holding it. It potentially gives Apple a much-needed hub in the smart home market, an ideal controller device for your HomeKit world. That could be a real benefit for those wanting to build a system around Apple, rather than Google or Alexa. Google Pixel 7 review: The same, but different POCKET-LINT What's happened? In 2021, Google ripped up its own playbook in so many ways with the Pixel 6. It delivered a striking new look with completely new software, and even teased and showed off the phone months in advance to get ahead of the leakers. With the Pixel 7 in 2022, the name of the game is refinement, but with the same approach to marketing. We've known what the Pixel 7 would look like for months. What we didn't know was how it would build on the performance of its predecessor, and if it could deliver a significantly better experience. Our quick verdict The overriding feeling of using the Pixel 7 is that not much has really changed since the previous model. Yes, there are enhancements to some of the features and a slimming down of the body, which does make a difference, but the essence of Pixel remains the same. It's essentially like using a slightly better, more grown up version of the Pixel 6.
