The European Parliament has [passed legislation]( that requires all phone manufacturers to adopt USB-C for charging. Why does it matter? The writing was on the wall when the European Union put forward new measures to unify charging standards across devices. Now the Parliament has approved proposals and USB-C will be mandatory by the end of 2024. What's my take? When Apple's Lightning connector was launched, it was a massive step forward over the previous dock connector - and the Micro-USB that most rivals went on to use. But, times change and the advantages of Lightning have long since vanished into the rear-view mirror. Apple iPhone 14 Plus review: Is bigger better? POCKET-LINT What's happened? Apple has four iPhones in its 2022 line up, with a new Plus size for its standard model. So what's the iPhone 14 Plus like? Well, it's definitely big - and not as cute as the iPhone mini. It certainly has its advantages though, many of which make it an excellent choice. Our quick verdict Bigger doesn't always mean better but there's a lot to love about the iPhone 14 Plus. So much so that if you think you want the smaller model, we urge you to reconsider. The iPhone 14 Plus' large display, super-sized form factor and bigger battery make it a truly excellent choice.
