The Blade Runner TV series [is now official]( - it has been greenlit by Amazon for its Prime Video service. Why does it matter? As previously rumoured, it will be called "[Blade Runner 2099]( and be set 50 years after the events of the movie sequel starring Ryan Gosling. What's my take? I'm a huge fan of Blade Runner and also one of those irritating people who will tell you that Philip K Dick's book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is better by far. I enjoyed 2049, but mostly because Deckard (Harrison Ford) was back. So, Blade Runner 2099 has a lot to live up to and, having watched a little of the highly-billed [Rings of Power on Amazon]( I'm a little fearful. That's because I also loved just about every self-indulgent second of Peter Jackson's cinematic interpretation of Tolkien's work, but the latest Amazon version is, well, disappointing to me. While existing franchises might seem ripe for redevelopment, I can't help feeling that - creatively - this isn't the right way to go. There's no shortage of ideas, there's no limit on imagination, so why are we risking the legacy of these titles? Call of Duty outlines the future of the franchise, with a bigger move towards mobile ACTIVISION What's happened? At its Call of Duty: Next event, Activision announced [Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile](. Why does it matter? This is the second Call of Duty title to shift over to mobile devices, with a greater emphasis on tying together the mobile and non-mobile games. What's my take? I've been a big fan of Call of Duty: Mobile since launch. In fact, I've played more of the mobile title than I ever did the console or PC versions. It's just so incredibly accessible - with the added bonus that you don't have to monopolise the TV while playing, so it's slightly less anti-social than playing on the Xbox. But CoD: Mobile is all about the multiplayer experience - the Battle Royale is rather flaccid in my opinion. So now we have a fully fledged stand-alone Battle Royale experience in Warzone Mobile, with the promise of 120 players per game. Activision also says that there's going to be a closer link between mobile and non-mobile, so if you unlock a weapon in one game, you'll have access to it in the other, for example. Whether the gameplay is any better remains to be seen - but this could be another chart-topping mobile game when it releases in 2023. - [Call of Duty Warzone Mobile: Details, date and what we know so far]( A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR The ideal creative laptop doesn't have to cost a fortune, here are three excellent options POCKET-LINT.COM NVIDIA recently commissioned some research as part of their back to school campaign. The Apple Watch Series 8 was announced alongside the next generation of the Watch SE and the [rugged Apple Watch Ultra](. With the Ultra model stealing the limelight for being the new and shiny toy, the Series 8 sits humbly in the background. Our quick verdict While the Apple Watch Series 8 doesn't offer huge changes compared to Series 7, there's still a lot to be said for this smartwatch. If you're considering upgrading from the Series 7, then no, it's possibly not worth it this time around unless you really want that body temperature sensor, international roaming, or car crash detection. The Watch Series 8 is a solid upgrade for those with a Series 6 or older though, and a great starting place for those new to the Apple Watch world who have decided the Watch SE isn't enough.
