Google announced in 2021 that it was working on an updated model of its wired video doorbell to replace the rebranded Nest Hello. It said the device would appear sometime in 2022 and now [some images have appeared]( showing what it will look like. Why does it matter? The images were spotted by 9to5Google after they appeared in the Google Home 2.58 app update on the Play Store. What's my take? Google has confirmed that it is hosting an event on 6 October for the launch of new hardware - it's the so-called Made by Google event. While most are talking about new Pixel phones, the leak of this new doorbell means there's more in store. Replacing the existing wired model, it looks like Google wants to align the design language between wired and battery-powered, for a cleaner aesthetic. But what we don't know is what new technologies will power this device: it's likely that, aside from a better camera, Google will push out new AI features to make this doorbell even more impressive. Sony Xperia Stream is a huge cooling fan for gaming on an Xperia 1 IV SONY MOBILE What's happened? Sony has launched the [Xperia Stream (XQZ-GG01)]( a beefy cooling fan that you bolt to the back of a Sony Xperia 1 IV to turn it into a dedicated gaming phone. Why does it matter? Its primary purpose is to keep ypur handset cool during intensive gaming sessions, but also includes ports for faster, more stable internet connectivity, power, audio, and video output. What's my take? While some had hoped that Sony was preparing to launch a new PlayStation Phone, the reality is that Sony is expanding its gaming accessories in the mobile space. This is part of Sony's wider efforts to align the Xperia brand with mobile gaming. Sony already sponsors e-sports teams and various gaming tournaments - but it really wants its hardware to be the choice of gamers too. The Xperia Stream is a pretty chunky solution for its flagship phone, but adding cooling and connectivity options is a good move. The problem is that the gaming market is already well served by the likes of Asus with the ROG Phone or the Lenovo Legion Phone - and these sorts of devices are designed for gaming, with better gaming modes - and often have these sorts of gaming accessories bundled in. In my opinion, Sony needs to decide what it wants its phone to be: so much goes into pitching it as the pro photographers' phone of choice, that pivoting into being the top-choice gaming phone is a bit of a leap. Apple Watch SE (2022) initial review: Best of the bunch? POCKET-LINT What's happened? Apple has three new Watch models that cover all bases when it comes to budgets and features. At the bottom - and cheaper - end of the scale is the Watch SE (2022). It's the successor to the original - and excellent - Watch SE that launched in 2020, offering an option for those who maybe don't need all the features of the Series 8. Our quick verdict The Apple Watch SE makes some decent upgrades over its predecessor, predominantly in terms of a step up in processor, as well as a colour-matched casing that is kinder to the environment. There are also some extra features, like Car Crash Detection. It doesn't have the latest display design like the Series 8, or the Always-On Display, and it's nowhere near as tough and durable as the Watch Ultra or as feature rich. It also doesn't offer the body temperature sensor, which can aid in ovulation tracking in women, but as an entry point into Apple Watch, the Watch SE offers plenty.
