Apple has sent out invites to its [next Special Event]( which will take place on 7 September at The Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. Why does it matter? The event is expected to see the launch of the Apple iPhone 14 series, as well as new Apple Watch models. What's my take? The invitation carries the words "far out", while the images show stars outlining the Apple logo. This doesn't tell us much about the event, but perhaps hints at a feature Apple might include - an astrophotography mode for the iPhone 14 Pro perhaps? There's a lot that's expected and we've been following these rumours for some time, so we're expecting to see: - [iPhone 14 and 14 Max](
- [iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max](
- [Apple Watch Series 8]( (and perhaps a new Watch SE)
- [Apple Watch Series 8 Pro](
- [AirPods Pro 2](
There's no guarantee that we'll see all these devices launched, but most of the attention will be on the iPhone 14. Sonos reportedly working on multi-directional speaker with Dolby Atmos SONOS What's happened? Sonos is said to be [planning a flagship speaker]( that can beam audio in "nearly all directions" at once. Why does it matter? The Optimo 2, as it is allegedly codenamed, is a single-speaker solution designed to replace the Sonos Five. It is said to contain a large array of drivers, including some that fire in different directions, and have front and rear grilles. What's my take? Sonos has been pretty slow to evolve its speakers over the past decade, but the company appears to have a steady plan to move into new areas and offer attractive new features for its customers. We've previously heard about a [compact subwoofer]( and this new speaker is pitched as an update to the Sonos Five. That means it's likely to be big, with Dolby Atmos support most likely to be in place to support Dolby Atmos music, rather than television. There are a number of streaming services embracing the spatial audio format for more immersive music, so it seems a logical direction to head in. The launch timeline is unclear though: we'd expect to hear more about Sono's next speaker on the rumour mill before there's anything official announced. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 review: It's all about refinement POCKET-LINT What's happened? When the foldable smartphone market emerged a few years ago, few manufacturers took it as seriously as Samsung. It made the first proper, consumer-ready device in the Galaxy Fold. It wasn't perfect, but it was a start, and - while it was very expensive - it was one of very few you could actually buy. It's now in its fourth generation. Our quick verdict The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a welcome update that moves this folding phone into a flagship space with boosted power and new cameras. This remains the big screen folding phone of choice, with software support for wider usage of the display and plenty of quality in all areas. With S Pen support and water protection, it maintains an edge over other folding devices. It's still expensive, however, especially if you opt for anything other than the 256GB starting point for storage. [Read our review](.
