Several Kindle eBook readers [will lose access to the Amazon store]( in August, after which time users will not be able to buy any new eBooks using the device itself. Why does it matter? Users have started to receive emails from Amazon explaining which Kindles are affected. The Kindles that will be denied access to the online store from August are: - Kindle (2nd Gen) International - Kindle DX International - Kindle Keyboard - Kindle (4th Gen) - Kindle (5th Gen) You won't have received an email unless you have one of the above linked to your Amazon account. Of course, you will still be able to go online and have them transferred to your Kindle (a much easier experience in my mind and I've got one of the latest models). However, to some that might be seen as a deal breaker. If so, it's time to put up or grade up. Google has [announced]( that it's ready to start rolling out profiles on Google TV, at last. Why does it matter? Profiles will allow different users to log in with their Google account, get personalised recommendations and have Google tailor recommendations for each individual. What's my take? Finally, my recommendations won't be full of kids shows. Now all I've got to do is train them to remember to use those new profiles. The struggle continues..
