Get them to [sign up here.]( Apple reportedly shows AR/VR headset to its board: Is a launch imminent? Unsplash What's happened? Apple has been rumoured to be developing a mixed reality headset for years. And now a new [report]( claims the company showed the headset to its board of directors. Why does it matter? According to Bloomberg, an announcement is on the horizon - although that doesn't mean the headset will appear at WWDC 2022. Another website, The Information, noted that Apple board members last got a demo of prototype AR/VR devices in 2016. These were early-stage devices. What's my take? With plenty of companies getting into the AR/VR space with hardware (Meta, Snap, Microsoft, etc), Apple might feel that now is the time to get fully involved. It could help galvanise the market further into embracing VR/AR. It's a trick the company played 20 years ago with the iPod to great success. If Apple can bring it's usual marketing savvy and ease of use to the experience then that will really help the mixed reality cause. But before you wonder why now, don't forget that Apple has been touting the benefits and virtues of augmented reality through various apps and demos for years. It presumably believes there is a big enough installed base for it to be interesting. Could we see something at WWDC? It would make sense given the in-person element of the event and the developer focus. If that happens ahead of a hardware launch this holiday season, that will really make things interesting. - [Apple Glasses: What's the story so far on Apple's AR headset?]( Tesla opens its Supercharger network to non-Tesla EVs in UK and Europe Pocket-lint What's happened? Tesla has [announced]( that it's expanding its Supercharger pilot programme in the UK and Europe. Drivers of other EV brands can therefore take advantage of its fast-charging points. Why does it matter? New countries included in the expanded test are Austria, Belgium, Spain, Sweden and the UK, each getting a handful of stations that will be opened up to wider use. In the UK, that includes 15 locations totalling 158 chargers. What's my take? One of the key selling points of the Tesla is the fantastic Supercharger network you get to tap into. This effectively negates the worry about playing nicely with other charging networks, while at the same time delivering an air of "business class charging" on the go. I'm not sure then, how your average Tesla driver will feel when they next go to charge their car and find that the bays are filled with other EVs. - [Electric dreams and the ecosystem: Tesla's Supercharger advantage]( A MESSAGE FROM SPONSOR EcoFlow Wave is one of the most convenient portable air conditioners for campers and RVers Ecoflow Find out how the [EcoFlow Wave Portable Air Conditioner]( helps you bring the conveniences of indoor living into your RV.
