Get them to [sign up here.]( Quixel's amazing Unreal Engine 5 video shows stunning future for gaming Quixel / YouTube What's happened? Asset resource company Quixel has created an [Unreal Engine 5 demo reel]( that will make you salivate on the future for gaming. Why does it matter? "Working on several different environments that convey varied stories and moods was extremely fast and iterative using Unreal Engine 5 and Quixel Megascans," said cinematic environment artist Alex Tucker. The project was titled "Ninety Days", with 40 different environments created in total over that period. What's my take? Some of these scenes are incredibly impressive, so impressive that it's hard to tell whether its computer generated or not. Of course, there's a lot more to a video game than the scenery you play against, but given that these were created in just 90 days shows that the next batch of games to use Unreal 5 could be more immersive and lifelike than ever. Sonos Sub Mini pictured in leak: Is the affordable subwoofer launching soon? The Verge What's happened? The Sonos Sub Mini has [leaked]( again. Why does it matter? Such a device has been rumoured for months, with rumours suggesting the release of a "smaller, less costly subwoofer" that can wirelessly pair with the Sonos Ray, Beam and Arc, is nearing. What's my take? The only subwoofer Sonos currently sells is the [$749 Sonos Sub]( which, let's face it, doesn't really make sense against the new, more affordable $279 Ray soundbar. A cheaper solution makes great sense, therefore. It's also great that, after years of not really announcing many new speakers or products, Sonos is showing it continues to remain relevant, with devices that appeal to a wider audience. When combined with the [Ray]( this prospective bass speaker could offer a much more affordable solution, especially for those that can't justify the fantastic Arc / Sub combo.
