Sonos has been [rumoured]( to be developing a voice assistant since last summer. Now, a new report on the project claims the brand will launch it in the coming weeks. Why does it matter? Sonos Voice will allow you to control music playback on voice-enabled Sonos devices using vocal commands, serving as an alternative to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. What's my take? Sonos likes to control the whole experience, I can see that. However, I also wonder whether at this stage it's just a bit too late to the party. Of course, Sonos could know something about the voice assistants that we don't and wants to close the loop to ensure it's not cut out of the process. Regardless of the why, with an announcement expected shortly, we won't have to wait long to find out. Xbox app update includes Instagram-style Stories sharing feature Xbox What's happened? The Xbox smartphone app is being [updated]( to add a social sharing feature that apes the "Stories" now so common across social media apps like Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. Why does it matter? The change means you can now add a story to showcase a screenshot or capture you've taken, or an achievement you've earned. What's my take? Every business wants to be like TikTok now don't they? In all seriousness, I think this is a clever and shrewd move by Xbox to build a social network by stealth. One that allows gamers to showcase their ability with others without getting distracted with non gaming stuff. You could argue that it's surprising it's taken Xbox this long to offer this functionality.
