Still seeing itself as a camera company rather than a social network, Snap has revealed a tiny camera drone that can take pictures and video that are instantly shared on Snapchat. What's my take? This looks like a lot of fun, removes the need to understand how to fly the thing yourself, and opens up lots of potential. It won't be for everyone, not least considering it costs $230. While reports of a battery that only gives you a couple of flights before needing a recharge could also deter some. But, having seen Snap's approach to hardware previously, I'm not sure the company is too worried about that. This feels like a proof-of-concept product that is designed to help the company learn rather than being a device that's going to be as popular as the iPhone. Snap is still very much focused on augmented reality, seeing that as a 10-year goal still to be achieved, and the Pixy clearly fits into that game plan. Even if we aren't fully aware of what that plan actually is right now. - [What is Snap Pixy, how does it work, and where can you buy it?]( Apple's Mac and services continue to shine Pocket-lint What's happened? Apple's latest earnings report shows the company made $97.4 billion in revenue in Q2, up 9 per cent generally. Most notably though, Mac revenue grew by 15 per cent, and services grew by 17 per cent over the last 12 months, showing some interesting trends. Why does it matter? Apple has invested heavily in the Mac over the last two years, with the roll out of its M1 Apple Silicon. It also continues to see services as a way of boosting revenues and profits over the next five to 10 years. What's my take? It seems every Apple earnings report is a record breaking one these days, to the point where they just aren't as exciting as they once were to cover. However, putting those huge numbers aside, there's some really positive signs. It certainly looks like Apple's gamble to ditch Intel in favour of its own Silicon has paid off. And, given there are still more Macs promised over the next six months, I can't see that number doing anything other than continue to grow. Why should you care? Well, if the Mac division is enjoying renewed popularity, Apple is likely to continue to double down on delivering more of what customers want, which can only benefit those of us that use one of its computers. A tablet that turns into a laptop and runs Windows 11, the MateBook E is essentially Huawei's answer to the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 - and, to a lesser extent, 2-in-1 wannabes like the iPad Pro. Our quick verdict The Huawei MateBook E hits highs with superb colour reproduction and great portability. But, its short battery life doesnât cut it as a tablet, and performance canât compete with the Microsoft Surface Pro 8.
