Get them to [sign up here.]( EE will exclusively offer Nreal Air AR glasses in the UK EE What's happened? EE is stepping into a virtual world, [confirming]( that it will be launching the Nreal Air AR glasses in the UK. Why does it matter? The Nreal Air offer a design similar to a pair of sunglasses, which when paired with the Nreal Nebula smartphone app can then offer [AR experiences]( on the move. What's my take? We see so much talk about AR, VR or XR, but there's rarely any actual, physical, product being made available - so it's exciting that EE is dipping its toe in the water. EE has shown off various augmented reality applications before, usually to boast about 5G speeds and we've never been that interested in those demos - but offering an actual product gives a feeling that this a proper step forward. These glasses will let you take content off your phone and watch it on a giant virtual screen viewed through the Nreal glasses. It essentially means a big-screen experience wherever you are - and an actual use for those fast data speeds that EE promises. Like all things, the proof of the pudding is always in the eating, and I can't wait to give these a go in the real world, so see whether we are making progress, of it it's just another false start. It's official: Elon Musk will buy Twitter for $44 billion Nathan Dumlao / Unsplash What's happened? Twitter has accepted Elon Musk’s bid to [buy it for $44 billion](. Why does it matter? In a [press release]( on Monday, Musk said he wants to make the social network better than ever by "enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans". What's my take? Wow. One of the most influential social media platforms looks like it will be taken over the world's richest man. Musk is clearly a fan and a big user of Twitter, and opinions on where the platform will go from here are divided. Musk has been outspoken on freedom of speech and that could see characters previously banned from Twitter able to push their agenda again, in the interests of free speech. On the other hand, the "authenticating all humans" approach could cut down the anonymous abuse; the bot armies rallying around radical positions and generally making Twitter a hell hole might be defeated if Musk has his way. On the other side is the huge takeover cost. Musk will have to find a way to make Twitter profitable to service the debt accrued in the aquisition. It all adds up to, well, we don't know what. Certainly, Twitter shareholders will be happy, burt exactly what direction Twitter will head in over the next 5 years remains to be seen.
