Get them to [sign up here.]( Is Amazon making an XR device? Amazon What's happened? The company is hiring for a "[new-to-world smart-home product]( that uses "XR". Why does it matter? XR is an umbrella term that covers the combination of virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality. Devices that claim to be capable of XR can deliver experiences relating to all three. What's my take? Several major tech companies, including Facebook, Apple, and Google, are reportedly all working on augmented reality devices. Now, you can add Amazon to that list. And while Amazon isn't a name that instantly springs to mind when you talk about XR, VR, or even AR, given its tech stable of Alexa-powered devices, I'm sure the company doesn't want to miss out on any opportunities there are to be had. My guess? We'll hear more about any upcoming projects at the next big launch reveal in September, but probably only as an invite only "Day One Edition" rather than be on the shelves for all to buy straight away. Twitter's edit feature might preserve all previous versions of a tweet Unsplash What's happened? Twitter [recently disclosed]( it is developing an edit button or a way for users to edit their existing tweets. It has been unclear how that might look and technically work when it goes live, but two app researchers, who regularly dig into betas and code to find unreleased features, have found [evidence]( that Twitter is considering keeping track of a tweet's edit history. Why does it matter? Users have been crying out for an edit button for years. What's my take? The edit button has always been a contentious one. We're so used to editing things in our lives that it seems strange that we still can't edit a tweet, especially one where we've made a silly typo. But it's not as easy as that. With so many Tweets embedded around the web, what happens to those messages. A user could, for example, post something, a publisher include it in a story, and then a day later change the tweet to alter the meaning or context. How would future users know that it had changed? It looks like Twitter's idea currently, is that you'll still get the original tweet alongside the newer changes. Sounds like a can of worms to me.
