Mercedes-Benz has revealed that its [Vision EQXX concep]( managed to drive over 1,000 km (621 miles) on a single battery charge. Why does it matter? It completed its first successful road trip on a run through Germany, across the Swiss Alps and ending in Northern Italy. It posted an average power consumption of 8.7 kWh every 100 km, which included driving in everyday traffic conditions. What's my take? When it was unveiled in January, the luxury Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept car came with claims that it could drive over 1,000 km on a single charge, now that's been proved true. What's especially impressive about the distance is that its journey included driving at up to 140 km/h on the German autobahn and maximum speed limits in other regions. This, combined with normal everyday traffic conditions, means that the power consumption should be similar for other non-concept cars in most circumstances. Indeed, Mercedes has stated that, while the EQXX is not planned for consumer release, the electric technology used will appear in production models in the near future. That, at least, removes one of the main barriers to swapping from a fossil fuel car to an EV. Now we just need the charging infrastructure to improve equally as quick. OnePlus Ace confirmed, will launch 21 April MySmartPrice What's happened? OnePlus is hosting an event on 28 April to unveil the OnePlus 10R 5G and OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite smartphones. Now we've learned it [plans a separate launch in China]( a week before, for the OnePlus Ace. Why does it matter? The company confirmed the event via Chinese blogging site Weibo. It also revealed some official images of the device. What's my take? Considering the official images of the OnePlus Ace look just like those leaked of the OnePlus 10R, we can't help but be confused. Even the leaked specs of both look remarkably similar. Maybe they are just the same phone with two regional names? Guess we'll find out for sure in the next two weeks.
