E3 2022 has been [cancelled](. Why does it matter? The show usually takes place in person in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It first kicked off there in 1995 and was held annually until 2020 - when it was cancelled for the first time due to the pandemic. In 2021, it was held entirely online, although that won't be the case this year. There will be no digital E3 neither. What's my take? The team and I have attended E3 many times. It was great in its heyday, but even without the pandemic, its purpose was waning - it's just not necessarily needed in the same way it once was. The industry has changed. In recent years, games companies have found their own successful launch platforms and just like other trade shows, the need to limit everyone to a specific launch time frame no longer applies as it once did. While the organiser, the ESA, promises that E3 will come back bigger and stronger in 2023, I fear that the genie might have been let out of the proverbial bottle already. A new world order of individual events from the likes of EA, Ubisoft, Xbox and PlayStation is here to stay. Hydrow lets you race the Putney Boat Race at home Pocket-lint What's happened? Hydrow, the rowing equivalent of Peloton, has [launched]( a Race to the Thames fitness class in the run up to the famous Putney Boat Race on Sunday 4 April.. Why does it matter? With subscription services keen to show they are different from each other, some are having to go to new lengths to create that wow factor. What's my take? I've been a Hydrow rower for about six months. I've also been a fan of the Putney Boat Race for a couple of decades, having both lived in Putney and had many friends who've attended either Oxford or Cambridge over the years. I've always been intrigued as to how tough the race was and while Hydrow doesn't deliver a true on-water experience, having two Olympic coxswains shouting at you as you follow the boats down the river is certainly an experience and really gets you into a grove. In my boat race attempt, I managed 5,170 meters in the allotted time of 22 minutes placing me just outside the top 100 of those who've done the challenge already. That's a far cry from the 6,800 meters and 17-20 minutes winning times, but I'm already keen to not only have another go, but see if the service plans to offer other famous races that I can tackle in the future.
