Ford is [working on connected smart traffic lights]( to help emergency services get to incidents faster. Why does it matter? The lights can go green when an ambulance, fire engine or police vehicle is nearby and is in emergency response status. This not only opens a clearer route for the respective service, but also helps prevent accidents that could be caused when a responder has to drive through a red light. What's my take? I've seen this trick in movies dozens of times as a getaway driver is helped by traffic lights turning green at the right time. Now some clever folks at Ford are making it a reality for those that actually need it. The implications for regular drivers are vast too. And is something that I've seen companies like Qualcomm talk up for a while. Imagine a future where all cars not only talk to each other, but to the street furniture, like traffic lights in order to create a better, safer road environment for all, Sounds exciting. Spotify is making it easier for you to discover Podcasts Unsplash What's happened? According to some reports, Spotify [appears to be testing]( a new TikTok style of podcasts discovery that could make it easier for you to find new things to listen to. Why does it matter? Some users have taken to Twitter to report that they've seen a new Podcasts section at the bottom of the app where you'd normally find your library and home buttons. From there, you can click to get a TikTok style of podcast discovery which lets you sample some random podcasts by just swiping through them. What's my take? Spotify continues to double down on podcasts as it looks to be the place to get your spoken word fix. With so many podcasts available though, discovery is the biggest issue facing many creators. So, it will be interesting to see whether this helps. On the subject of discovery, don't forget to check out [my weekly tech podcast]( that comes out on a Friday. Sorry, I couldn't resist the plug.
