Get them to [sign up here.]( Apple might sell the iPhone through a subscription service later this year Pocket-lint What's happened? Apple is reportedly considering [a subscription service]( for the iPhone and other hardware, allowing customers to buy its products via monthly fees. Why does it matter? By allowing people to subscribe to hardware for the first time, through an auto-leasing program of sorts, the company could generate more revenue. It would just make it easier for people to buy Apple products in general because they won't have to purchase them at full cost outright. What's my take? Having seen the huge success the Apple Services division has enjoyed, it's only logical to wonder whether that same subscription model can be applied to hardware too. And why not - we've effectively been doing that in the UK for the last decade or so already with our mobile phones. Add to that credit services like Klarna, which have also seen a huge boom in recent years as people opt to spread the cost of their latest shopping purchases, and you can see why that all sets the scene nicely for Apple to step in and offer its customers the chance to own its latest "devices" at a seemingly low affordable monthly rate. Clever, but also potentially dangerous for many. EU's Digital Market Act to force Apple and Google to open up their platforms Unsplash What's happened? The European Union has [agreed]( on a set of new measures to force Big Tech companies to play nice with others. Why does it matter? It includes rules that will force Apple and Google to allow third-party payment options in apps on their respective app stores. And chat apps, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage, will have to be interoperable with each other and competitors. What's my take? There's plenty here that could change the face of Big Tech as we know it over the next decade. The question is whether it have the desired outcomes the EU wants, and will it actually make a difference or simply get bogged down in litigation and appeals? Either way, expect Big Tech to look different in the coming months and years as the fallout from this approach starts to bite. The Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 stands out from the crowd compared to other gaming headsets for its striking blue highlights (there's no fancy RGB lighting or anything here). Our quick verdict A comfortable gaming headset with a great mic, lightweight design and a lot more besides. We just find the earcups a bit too shallow, otherwise this is a decent, affordable headset.
