Get them to [sign up here.]( Amazon's MGM buyout completed, now owns Bond films and more MGM / EON What's happened? Amazon has successfully [acquired]( MGM in an $8.45 billion (£6.44b) deal. That includes the entire Bond franchise. Why does it matter? It means Amazon Prime Video now has access to an enormous catalogue of past and future films. What's my take? The deal is done. In the short term that should mean many of the 4,000 movies the company now owns will be coming to Amazon Prime Video to boost the company's streaming service offering. Then there's Bond of course. If Amazon follows the same approach Disney took when it bought Lucas Arts (Star Wars), we're likely to see more movies, spin offs, and much more as it looks to get a return on its investment. Expect things to get interesting. - [What is the best order to watch the James Bond movies?]( Heineken Silver's metaverse launch was a sobering experience Heineken / Pocket-lint What's happened? Heineken has [launched]( a new low-alcohol beer via the metaverse. Why does it matter? Everyone wants to be seen to be doing something with the metaverse at the moment even if they aren't technology brands, and it seems that means launching a new beer virtually is fair game too. What's my take? Books like Ready Player One paint the metaverse as this cool place we'll be desperate to spend most of our time in the future, however we're quickly learning those works of fiction are just that. As brands rush to show they are "with the times" they are failing to understand that sometimes a good old fashioned video presentation or ad slot is just as good if not better than a virtual experience. I believe that if the metaverse is going to work, those who are involved have got to stop trying to create an exact digital version of life as it is today and come up with something that will blow our minds. I have no interest in a metaverse where I have to wait in line. If you can't fly, what's the point? [Find out how!]( Apple Mac Studio review: Unleash your superpowers Pocket-lint What's happened? The Mac Studio - which seemingly sits between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro - is the company's answer to those who want more power (complete with Apple's own M1 Max/Ultra silicon) without going the full hog of the fully customisable (and still Intel-powered) Mac Pro. Our quick verdict For most people the Mac Studio is going to be overkill. It's the most powerful Mac we've ever tested. However, if you are dealing with big files - and we mean seriously big files - day in day out then this is going to service those needs... and then some.
