Nothing has [confirmed]( that it will be holding a virtual event to showcase what's coming in 2022. Why does it matter? [Speaking to Pocket-lint at Mobile World Congress 2022]( Pei outlined that what he really wanted Nothing to create was an ecosystem rivalling that offered by Apple. A phone will be a big part of that. What's my take? On [Tuesday]( I wrote about "spy" shots of Pei showing off the new phone; now just two days later we've got an official announcement for the end of the month. I told you we wouldn't have to wait that long to see what he and Nothing have been up to. Let's hope the product lives up to the hype and that it's not just a load of "nothing". Sorry, I couldn't resist. Gogoro shows off the first solid-state swappable EV battery Gogoro / ProLogium What's happened? Electric moped company Gogoro has paired with ProLogium Technology to [show]( what it claims to be the world's first swappable solid-state EV battery. Why does it matter? The prototype lithium ceramic battery pack is compatible with Gogoro's current scooters but should deliver a much higher capacity than those currently available. What's my take? Gogoro's approach has always been innovative. Rather than force you to sit and wait for the battery to charge, as you do with an electric car, you simply turn up to a Gogoro station and swap your used battery for a fully charged one. Nothing's changed with the approach on that front, but battery advances mean you'll be able to go further between charges - something us EV drivers are aways after. And while we are unlikely to see the technology in cars any time soon, this approach still makes a lot of sense to me, especially for smaller vehicles, like mopeds and bikes. The 2022 Sportage is a significant update over the original, which is why it's positioned as an all-new model. From interior to exterior, there's little that's remained the same, apart from the name. Our quick verdict Kia's compact SUV has been refreshed with a bolder design and it looks all the better for it. Paired with a sharper interior, the Sportage feels like a car that's trying to step up a class. There's an expanding array of choices looking to accommodate a wide breadth of buyers, but it remains comfortable, practical and well-equipped - and so ideal for families.
