Get them to [sign up here.]( Laptops and tablets rule first wave of MWC announcements, not smartphones Samsung What's happened? [Samsung]( [Huawei]( and [Lenovo]( used the first day of Mobile World Congress to launch new laptops, rather than smartphones. Why does it matter? MWC in Barcelona is traditionally a mobile-first trade show with the Sunday usually chockablock with phone launches galore. One year, I remember going to five events on the Sunday evening alone. What's my take? With many companies now opting to launch their latest and greatest phones on their own schedules, MWC 2022 is seemingly a launch pad for other device lineups. That means laptops and tablets so far. There will be phones announced during the show, of course - even today. However, with big hitters such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Oppo Find X5 Pro already unleashed, and Apple's iPhone announcement expected next week (8 March), this year's MWC is looking lighter than usual when it comes to its trademark handset launches. Huawei's MatePad Paper is an e-book reader and digital notebook all-in-one Huawei What's happened? Huawei has [launched]( the MatePad Paper, a device that is a cross between the [ReMarkable]( and a [Kindle](. Why does it matter? The tablet features a large 10.3-inch E ink display, which means it's black and white, and doesn't need a backlight in order to be visible. What's my take? I've seen a growing trend in various meetings of people taking notes digitally on an iPad, ReMarkable, or something else with a stylus. It's not that they don't have a laptop, it's just that they don't want to been seen to be checking their emails and messages at the same time. At least, that's what they tell me. So a device like this makes a lot of sense and one that will, I suspect, be appealing to many. OlliOlli World review: Bliss out and chill Private Division What's happened? OlliOlli World departs from the more restrained and pixelated look of the previous two games in the series. It is instead set in a poppy, bubblegum land called Radlandia, home to a joyful array of skating enthusiasts. Our quick verdict This is a skating game that plays like a genius platformer and metes out its complexities smartly. With beautiful looks and a zany tone, it's a great evolution for the OlliOlli series.
