Sony's smaller-scale handset series is expected to arrive in its fourth generation 2022 release as the Xperia 5 IV. But the product isn't the biggest part of the story: it's the suggestion that it will feature [Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus](. Why does it matter? The 'Plus' is the big takeaway from that, as the alleged step-up platform over the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 hasn't even been announced by Qualcomm yet. What's my take? If you follow Qualcomm's product releases, the mention of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus shouldn't come as a surprise. Qualcomm has often had minor tweaks on its hardware - but the pace of change suggests that the revised version is rushing towards launch before the previous hardware has really made it to market. That begs the question of whether the inital version of the hardware is right: should we get used to hardware that's updated multiple times a year, or should Qualcomm be pushing for the Plus version from the off? Google confirms its Nest Doorbell won't charge in cold temperatures Bang & Olufsen What's happened? Google has confirmed its Nest Doorbell will [struggle to retain charge]( in cold temperatures, after many users reported issues with the device via Google Nest support. Why does it matter? The product listing indicates that the operating temperature for the doorbell is -4°F (-20°C), which, of course, should be enough to cover almost all cases. However, crucially, Google has now clarified that the minimum charging temperature is 32°F (0°C). What's my take? If there's one thing that batteries don't like, it's cold weather. I remember removing batteries from devices and stuffing them in my sleeping bag, or warming them in my armpits in days gone by. But when it's attached to your front door, that's a bit more of a problem. Although Google has come forward and clarified the situation, we know that Ring owners have experienced similar shorter lifespan through colder months. This is, ultimately, part of the price we'll have to pay for trying to operate battery-powered devices in colder conditions. If you live in a region that's cold through larger portions of the year, you might want to look battery-free options instead. [Find out how!]( Asus TUF Gaming H1 review: A good value gaming headset? Pocket-lint What's happened? On the face of it the Asus TUF Gaming H1 is an affordable no-frills headset: as with all things TUF it is understated and features a slick black design with no RGB lighting and barely any fancy accents. But does that mean you should overlook it? Our quick verdict On the face of it this is a no-frills headset with an affordable price tag that might cause you to dismiss it. However, it's surprisingly good, with audio quality that belies its price and initial appearance.
