Get them to [sign up here.]( Adult sites must add robust age verification under new UK law Kaitlyn Baker / Unsplash What's happened? The UK government is to introduce new legislation to force adult websites to use genuine age verification measures if they wish to operate in the UK. Why does it matter? The new law, which forms part of the government's forthcoming Online Safety Bill, will prohibit sites from view in the UK unless they use a method of age verification, such as credit card entry or third-party verification service. What's my take? It's a tricky subject and one that doesn't have a simple, straightforward answer - even though the UK government has revamped plans since the bill originally failed to be passed in 2019. Don't get me wrong, it's right that we try to stop children from accessing adult content online. It's also right that we shift the onus on managing the age verification process to the sites in question. And we should indeed threaten them with fines if they don't. But, unlike gambling, where the definition is clear cut, the same can't be said for adult material. What will fall under the classification? Do sites like OnlyFans count? What about Twitch gamers in hot tubs wearing bikinis? And then there's the fear of data theft. What if a database of those signing up to access adult sites was leaked or hacked? That has blackmail written all over. It suggests to me that many will simply stop viewing the sites in question altogether, if these proposed rules are enforced. That might be the point, of course. But, it's also a fairly heavy-handed form of censorship that many will claim threatens their freedom, even if they don't usually access the content themselves. A can of worms indeed. - [How to help your child safely watch videos on YouTube and YouTube Kids]( Massive Samsung Galaxy S22 retailer leak reveals Nightography, Victus+ protection, prices and release dates Amazon What's happened? Amazon.au [briefly]( listed, presumably by mistake, the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 as part of a bundle with the Echo Show 8. Why does it matter? With the launch scheduled tomorrow (9 Feb) it's the closest we've got yet to seeing all the details ahead of time. What's my take? This isn't a complete listing page and it's perfectly reasonable that some of this information may not be accurate, but it fits with details we've seen from other leaks. There looks to be plenty to like, unless of course you suffer from trypophobia, a word I learnt yesterday, that describes a fear of repetitive patterns of closely packed holes or protrusions. - [Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus release date, rumours, specs and features]( A MESSAGE FROM SPONSOR This Sharp soundbar and subwoofer combo offers real value for only £159 Sharp Sharp has truly outdone itself with the 2.1 channel HT-SBW202, a soundbar and subwoofer combo that offers real value to everyday users.
