CRAZYsauce Christmas story!
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â Hey {NAME}, First off- I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!
Secondly, I had this weird conversation with my sister-in-law that I wanted to share (I think thereâs a lesson to learned here)...
Just the other day- Christmas night after the kids had gone to bed- us âadultsâ were sitting around the table chatting.
And Shannon (my sister-in-law) nonchalantly tells us that sheâll be taking a week off work and getting surgery to fix her "crooked nose".
Her ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) apparently scared the living daylights out of her by telling her that her nasal cavities were the narrowest heâd ever seen, and questioned how she was able to breathe.
He says surgery is the only way to fix it so things donât get worse.
Go in with a crooked nose, exit with a surgical recommendation.
My wife questioned, âDo you have trouble breathing?" Shannon responded, âNO!â
You should know that her nose and nasal cavities and whatever other spaces sheâs had up in there have been this way her entire life without issue.
But because some âspecialistâ freaked her out and told her she needs surgery (even though she has no issue- other than a crooked nose)- sheâll be going under the knife next week.
No resistance, little questioning, just- âWell, I guess I need to get this fixed.â Holy NUTCRACKERS!
Canât make this stuff up.
Everyday, people are told that they:
👉 Have a bad back
👉 Have the back of an 80 year old
👉 Their back is jacked up
👉 Their pelvis is all out of whack
👉 They're unstable
👉 Theyâve got dead butt syndrome Basically, most of the world makes you believe youâre broken. Have you heard any of these silly things? My guess is that 90% of appointments at the local spine surgery center and roughly the same percentage of surgeries are unnecessary (studies show that only around 5% of people with back, butt, and leg pain have true nerve compression which may require surgery⦠I added some buffer for other traumatic/emergent causes).
But if you freak someone out enoughâ¦
And tell them that theyâll be paralyzed if they donât go through with it⦠Show them an X-ray or MRI of their back...
Or that theyâll never be able to do the things they love⦠Well then, clearly the only option is to get fixed and have surgery, right?! NO! âDr. Charlie, are you telling me that I donât need surgery?â Yup. Most people do just fine healing their pain naturally. And (like Shannon) just because youâre told you need surgery, doesnât mean you do or should have it.
If you want to steer clear of surgery and give yourself the best chance of getting back to normal naturally- then Iâd be happy to review your case â [click here to submit a CASE REVIEW and set up a time to chat](. If, after reviewing your case, I feel youâre in the 5% of people who do need surgery (or something else), then Iâll just let you know (personal call, email, or text notification) and we can cancel the call. Youâre not broken. -Dr. Charlie PS- I'm going ice skating tomorrow with my wife & daughter, and some extended family is coming over today (big talkers... I'll be tied up most of the night)... so I've only got space to review 15 cases before the new year. [Click here to submit a CASE REVIEW]( and kick off the new year on a pain free path...
