Hey {NAME}- Something to chew on today/ this weekend⦠One of my mentors (Tom Dalonzo-Baker - super smart dude, check him out!) recently posted this online⦠and itâs a total game changer for anyone in pain (or honestly anyone looking to improve some part of their life)... "We all have been conditioned from an early age to look for mistakes, to prevent mistakes, and that has transferred over to why we have predominantly looked at the bad regions of the body to fix the injured areas. It's one of the blinders we wear both culturally and professionally." READ THAT AGAIN⦠Brilliant stuff right there. Itâs so true - let me help you wrap your head around this... Tom brings up a super good point. Think back to your school years. When you got your homework back⦠what was circled in red? ALL the things you did WRONG. And so weâve been conditioned to focus on these things and try to fix them. But what if everything that you did RIGHT was circled⦠how would your experience have changed? Now, how does this apply to pain relief? ITâS THE NEW AGE OF PAIN RELIEF!!!
[YES, Iâm shouting this so you hear it!] When weâre in pain and moving our body, weâve been trained to look at what hurts and whatâs wrong/doesnât work. And we IGNORE all the things that donât hurt/do move well. This leads us to ONLY treat the injured area in an attempt to fix whatâs bad. The problem with this approach is that itâs the highest risk. Treating things that hurt- by pushing, poking, and pulling on injured areas- often ticks people off and makes them hurt more. But why not use what feels good to fix what feels bad? If what youâre doing isnât working- itâs time to INVERT your thinking. Use yummy to fix yucky (just like Susan, inside our program)... Need some help getting "outside-the-box"?
