Introducing "Soap Bubbles", by Julie Blackmon and her acquisition by The National Art Gallery in Washington + Krista Svalbonas Online Exhibition! [Julie Blackmon]( [Soap Bubbles]( [Julie Blackmon, Soap Bubbles, 2023, Archival Pigment Print, 22x29", Edition of 10, $4,000]( In the Blog this week we introduced [Soap Bubbles]( a new image by Julie Blackmon, and also announced the acquisition of Flatboat and Paddle Board by The National Art Gallery, in Washington!
[Soap Bubbles]( was inspired by an 18th-century French painting by Jean Siméon Chardin, by the same name. I had watched my own nieces and nephews making giant bubbles recently, and I guess just seeing something like this in the present day and age that goes back hundreds, if not thousands, of years is intriguing to me. That connection to the past, as much as things have changed, there's still so much that remains the same in our daily lives. The idle time of children will always be a compelling subject matter for artists. âJulie Blackmon [Julie Blackmon | Blog Post]( [Jean Siméon Chardin, Soap Bubbles, ca.1734]( [Soap Bubbles]( is currently available at the base price in all three sizes.
