photo-eye Gallery is thrilled to welcome artist & National Geographic Explorer Ben Depp to the Photographer's Showcase! Kevin O'Connell Fallen Trees [Kevin O'Connell, Untitled (FT #0388), Mounted Archival Pigment Print, 38x50″, Edition of 7, $6,800]( [photo-eye Gallery]( is delighted to share a new series by represented artist [Kevin O'Connell](. Initiated in 2021, [Fallen Trees]( showcases the lush and breathtaking landscape of the Pacific Northwest coast of the United States. Through his lens, O'Connell explores the concept of Mono No Aware, a Japanese aesthetic that recognizes the transience of all things and the sadness of their passing. In his photos, the fallen trees embody the fleeting nature of life, reminding us of the delicate balance between growth and decay. Alongside this, O'Connell also captures the essence of Yūgen, a subtle and profound awareness of the universe that sparks a feeling of wonder and mystery. His work invites the viewer to contemplate the larger forces of nature and our place within it, inspiring a sense of reverence and awe. Morning Light: The Photographs of David H. Gibson Amon Carter Museum, in Fort Worth, TX On view through May 21 "In a world entrenched in societal division and ecological turmoil, it can be refreshing to step back and enjoy the quiet beauty of the natural world. Dallas photographer David H. Gibson has been exploring the beauty of the Southwestern landscape for more than 50 years, building a reputation as an astute interpreter of effervescent moisture and changing light. Morning Light: The Photographs of David H. Gibson take us to two of his favorite sites, Cypress Creek in Wimberely, Texas, and Eagle Nest Lake nestled in the mountains east of Taos, New Mexico. The 20 works in the exhibition draw attention to the artist's repeated return to each site and his fascination with dawn's break into day. In those mystical moments, he finds the essence of each spot. Through his photographs, Gibson coaxes us into getting up before dawn, stepping outside, and noticing the quick tempo of early morning's changing light." — Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth TX [David H.
