Conversations with Writers Radio Show]( [Patricia Galagan, Eagle Canyon, 2014, Archival Pigment Ink, 15x12â³, Edition of 10, $750]( Artist in the News!
Artist Pat Galagan was recently interviewed by Carly Newfeld, at KSFR Santa Fe Public Radio, for her show, [The Last Word: Conversations with Writers](. The pair talked about Fire Ghosts, a portfolio of photographs made by Pat Galagan and Philip Metcalf, forest regrowth, and climate change. [Listen to Interview]( The visual chaos of the burned forests, at first daunting, pushed them to look harder, to see differently, and, as they did so, the forests began to look beautiful in their highly altered state. For more than seven years, Pat and Philip were compelled to make photographs of the aftermath to draw people beyond the news-cycle images of smoke and flames into the reality of a forest after an extreme fire. Fire Ghosts is both their ode to the old forest and their gift to help us understand that in an era of accelerating climate change and increasingly devastating wildfires all over the world, the new forests will never be the sameâbut we can still find beauty there.
