This week at photo-eye, we are thrilled to premiere a new project from gallery artist [Zoë Zimmerman]( entitled [Covid Vanitas.]( Though [Zoë Zimmerman]( is most well known for her masterful albumen prints, her newest work consists of rich, moody color still lifes that continue to showcase the timeless and elegant sensibility of the artist. [Covid Vanitas]( is a body of work comprised of still lifes made at the artist's home near Taos, New Mexico throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. In isolation, Zimmerman reflected carefully on those things that grow and give us pleasure in life and reveled in the mix of joy and sadness that come with missing them. To read more about the art historical references that Zimmerman is making throughout the work, explore the blog post below and make sure to check out the [entire portfolio]( [View "Covid Vanitas"]( [Zoë Zimmerman and a (brief) history of the Vanitas]( [Zoë Zimmerman, Quarantine #23 (Day #29), 2020, Archival pigment print, 16 x 20â³, Edition of 24, $1200]( [Zoë Zimmerman, Quarantine #46 (Day #57), 2020, Archival pigment print, 16 x 20â³, Edition of 24, $1200]( [Zoë Zimmerman, Quarantine #57 (Day #73), 2020, Archival pigment print, 16 x 20â³, Edition of 24, $1200]( photo-eye Gallery is proud to represent [Zoë Zimmerman](. PHOTO-EYE GALLERY We are thrilled to share not one, but two recent articles featuring [Mitch Dobrowner]( and [Beth Moon]( published by online arts publication, Colossal! First, [Colossal]( featured our brand new online show by Beth Moon that shares a name with her newest book, [BAOBAB](. In the words of [Colossal](
"Shot in dramatic black-and-white, the images are rich in texture and frame the baobabsâ wide, crackled trunks and branches that splay outward into massive tufted canopies." [Read the full article here]( [Mitch Dobrowner & Anne Kelly in Conversation]( NEW FROM MICHAEL KENNA St. Joseph's College, Upholland
Michael Kenna Limited Edition includes signed 5x7" archival pigment prints! At age ten, Michael Kenna developed his first roll of black and white film in a makeshift darkroom at St. Josephâs College, the seminary he attended with the idea of becoming a Catholic priest. Kenna abandoned his religious calling after leaving the seminary, but his experience there has continued to inform his work for decades. These gorgeous, meditative photographs were taken when Kenna returned to visit the now-shuttered school in the early 2000s. All of the qualities that make Kennaâs work so appealing and evocative are hereârichly nuanced tones, studies in contrast, his ability to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. The Ltd. Edition of St. Joseph's College, Upholland comes with one (or both!) of the prints featured above, [Upper School Library, Study I, St. Joseph's College (2003)]( or [View from south-wing window, St. Josephs College (2010)](.
