Nonprofit News From Elsewhere Online Virginia’s top prosecutor is investigating claims that a pro-Palestinian nonprofit there provides indirect support to Hamas and has violated state rules for charities. Attorney General Jason Miyares is probing allegations made in a federal lawsuit filed by the parents of a man killed by Hamas in Israel in the 1990s. They say American Muslims for Palestine is the successor of an organization against which they won a $156 million judgment for funding Hamas operatives. AMP denies the claim and says it educates Americans about the culture and plight of Palestinians. The nonprofit and the Council on American-Islamic Relations have called the allegations and investigation dangerous and defamatory. ([Washington Post]( Billionaire philanthropist Michael Bloomberg will match $44 million in contributions he helped raise for Israel’s nonprofit emergency medical service. The combined $88 million, which is the largest gift ever donated to the U.S.-based Friends of Magen David Adom, will buy ambulances, medical equipment, and ballistic vests and helmets for emergency workers, the group said. Half of the sum came from large and small donors across the country in response to an email appeal from Bloomberg offering to match their contributions.
