Since mid-September, the agency has dropped off 13,000 migrants at transit centers in San Diego as illegal crossings from Mexico surge. At the same time, some charities are cutting shelter space as government funding shrinks, leaving single adults on the streets. Most migrants stay for a short time in San Diego before moving on. ([Associated Press]( Over the past several years, billionaire Charles Koch has quietly given more than $5 billion in stock to two conservative social-welfare groups that support his longstanding nonprofit network. In 2020, Koch gave $975 million to CCKc4, run by his son, Charles C. Koch.
