Two to three nonprofit theaters are closing each month, by one estimate, as inflation, sparse post-pandemic attendance, and dwindling donations cut into their budgets. The coalition is making its case to legislators that these troupes are important economic engines, contributing billions to the U.S. economy and employing tens of thousands of people, and need help getting back on their feet.
