ADVERTISEMENT [Advertisement]( RESEARCH [Job Growth at Nonprofits Makes Large Rebound in March]( By Michael Theis Nonprofits added an estimated 81,000 jobs in March, the largest rebound seen since August, but it may take 18 months for nonprofit employment to reach February 2020 levels. GIVING CIRCLES [Charity Creates a Searchable Directory of Giving Circles]( By Emily Haynes Philanthropy Together aims to expand the number of giving circles globally to 3,000 by 2025, with their members contributing a collective $1 billion annually to philanthropic efforts. OPINION [White Philanthropy, Here’s How to Guarantee Real Change Happens]( By Edgar Villanueva and Vanessa Daniel [image] Inviting people of color into structures in which we are accountable to white millionaires and billionaires is not an invitation to share power. Real power comes from appointing people of color into top roles and actively dismantling the power structures that marginalize millions, say the author of Decolonizing Wealth and the head of the Groundswell Fund. Nonprofit News From Elsewhere The Biden administration has begun to undo a Trump-era ban on federal funds for health clinics that refer pregnant women to abortion providers. The reversal, which is happening slowly as officials work to ensure it can survive a potential court challenge, would open the door for Planned Parenthood to re-enter the federal family-planning program. The organization left the program in 2019 over the ban, which medical associations protested and some women's groups called a gag rule. Before its exit, Planned Parenthood was serving about 40 percent of the women taking part in the program, which provides about $286 million worth of grants each year to clinics serving primarily low-income women. ([Associated Press]( A nonprofit in Texas has won its largest contract ever to help care for child migrants at the southern border, months after hiring an adviser to the Biden-Harris transition team. The Administration for Children and Families, part of the Health and Human Services Department, awarded a contract worth up to $530 million to Family Endeavors after the group brought on Andrew Lorenzen-Strait as a top executive. Lorenzen-Strait worked at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and advised the transition team on Department of Homeland Security policy and staffing matters. He has also helped companies navigate the federal procurement process, "with specific expertise on agencies that include the Administration for Children and Families." Family Endeavors, which also won an $87 million contract with DHS recently, said its work under these contracts is "a continuation of services we have delivered to the migrant population since 2012," but the amount of the new contract is more than 12 times its budget in 2018, the most recent available. ([Axios]( An estranged wife's accusations against a prominent Muslim civil-rights leader have brought forth a slew of complaints against him and his now-former employer, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Imane Sadrati used a crowdfunding appeal for support to air accusations of violence and bullying against Hassan Shibly, who until recently led the Florida chapter of CAIR. Shibly and Sadrati are in the process of divorcing. Since then, women have come forth on social media, and now in the press, to say they dealt with bad behavior that included discriminatory dress codes, sexual harassment, thwarted careers, and secret marriages while working for CAIR's national office or its independent chapters, or simply while getting to know Shibly. CAIR has hired an outside investigator to look into complaints about two local chapters, and Shibly denies the allegations against him.
