Some close to Adelson's widow, Miriam, say she was a driving force behind his philanthropy, and they predict she will carry on giving as he did, with smaller gifts that he made to causes he happened to hear about or large donations to medical institutions or right-leaning, pro-Israel groups. Some who might fill his shoes include billionaire investor Paul Singer, who supports startups in Israel and fiscally conservative Republican politics in the United States; and Seth Klarman, a more centrist billionaire investor who owns the Times of Israel newspaper. Next month, troops in some markets will take online orders and deliver their cookies through Grubhub, which will waive delivery fees.
