(Getty Images) TEEING OFF [STARS SHINE UNDER THE LIGHTS]() The seventh edition of [Capital One’s The Match]() featured its strongest field yet and was played entirely under the lights for the first time. Those features made it one of the most memorable of these made-for-TV matches. Tiger Woods and reigning FedExCup champ Rory McIlroy took on Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in a best-ball competition Saturday at Pelican GC outside Tampa. Spieth and Thomas continued their success as a team, winning 3 and 2. They never trailed, but the camaraderie entertained throughout. [HOGE & THEEGALA PROVE PERFECT PAIRING]() Tom Hoge, 33, and Sahith Theegala, 25, aren't the most familiar pairing in the world of golf, but they proved most effective this weekend at the QBE Shootout. The duo took home the win with a score of 33-under par, edging Charley Hoffman and Ryan Palmer with a birdie on the final hole. Hoffman and Palmer dominated the field in the first-round scramble, combining for 10 birdies and three eagles with a score of 56, just one off the tournament-record 55. Despite the veterans’ hot start, it was the consistency of Team Hoge/Theegala that kept them in contention, posting scores of 60 in the first two rounds and closing with a 10-birdie 62 on Sunday to claim the title. Hoge and Theegala made history by becoming the first rookie winners of the QBE since 2011. This year’s tournament was special for another reason, with LPGA stars joining the field for the first time in Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson. Korda and Denny McCarthy teamed for a T5 finish, with the Thompson/Maverick McNealy duo placing T10. [TIGER AND CHARLIE LOOK TO GO ONE BETTER AT PNC]() Tiger Woods and his son Charlie are making their third consecutive appearance at the [PNC Championship](). They’re seeking to go one better than last year’s thrilling runner-up finish that was highlighted by a record 11 consecutive birdies in the final round. The Woods pairing finished two back of John Daly and his son, University of Arkansas sophomore John Daly II. Twenty major champions will once again head to the [Ritz-Carlton Golf Club]() in Orlando to compete in the two-day scramble tournament alongside a family member. Jordan Spieth and reigning PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas will play with their fathers, as will LPGA star Nelly Korda. THE TURN MIC CHECK “I just want him to enjoy whatever he’s doing, I’m supporting him wherever he wants to go, and obviously providing opportunities for that direction. As a parent, our job and responsibility is to provide opportunity and support. It’s been fun that he’s taken a passion to something that I’ve enjoyed.” - [Tiger Woods speaks on his son Charlie’s journey in golf at their first interview together]().
