Teeing Off
[Wolff howls at 3m Open](
He huffed, he puffed and he blew the house down at TPC Twin Cities. [Matthew Wolff drained an eagle putt on the final hole to win the 3M Open]( by one shot on Sunday over Bryson DeChambeau and rising star Collin Morikawa. Wolff is 20 years old. He did not have a PGA TOUR card. He turned pro two weeks ago. He [has a “disruptor” coach]([who is an Instagram star](. And his [swing is non-traditional](. None of that, or maybe all of that, matters now. Wolff is now eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs, has a two-year TOUR exemption, and picked up a check worth more than $1 million. How will he celebrate? “[Maybe a virgin pina colada.](” They’re so cute at this age.

[FIRST-TIME EVENTS SHINE](
It’s tough to be first at anything on the PGA TOUR due its long and storied history. Well, it happened twice in the past two weeks. It started at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which was the first TOUR event held in the downtown Detroit area. Nate Lashley’s win was one of the best sports stories of the year considering the [tragedies and career pitfalls he’s had to endure](. Then there was last week’s 3M Open, which hosted a TOUR event for the first time in the golf-mad Twin Cities. The logistics, course renovations and behind-the-scenes efforts [to pull off both were extraordinary](, and the TOUR pros were all in. [Rickie Fowler made a dream come true]( during a surprise Make-A-Wish moment in Detroit, and Bud Cauley, whose family has a deep-rooted military background, showed his respect while [participating in a club-fitting session for military veterans](. And then there was [Mark Dusbabek, the former NFL linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings and longtime TOUR rules official](. Few were happier to be in the Twin Cities for an official TOUR event. And more than a few will be happy to see the TOUR return to both sites next season.

[HORSES IN THE BACK, GOLF CLUBS ARE ATTACHED](
Giddy up and gas up the tractor. The pros head 359 miles southeast from TPC Twin Cities to TPC Deere Run for the [John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois](. Michael Kim [set the tournament scoring record last season]( with a 257 total, and he’ll face plenty of big names including 2012 champion Zach Johnson and rising stars Viktor Hovland, Matthew Wolff and Collin Morikawa. On the line are 500 FedExCup points, a $1 million payday and a trip to Royal Portrush for The Open Championship for anyone who is not already eligible. Plus, there's nowhere else you'd be able to [hit a putt with a giant tractor](.

MIC CHECK
“In college … I kind of just let it rip. I came out here and just told my caddie, ‘That’s what we’re going to do this week … send it,” said Matthew Wolff at the 3M Open.
