Teeing Off
[TIGER LOOKS FOR NO. 8](
Seven times. Yep, seven times. [Tiger Woods makes his 2019 TOUR debut this week]( at the Farmers Insurance Open, an event he has won, yep, seven times. Torrey Pines is once again the site, and a [strong field]( including defending champion Jason Day and [FedExCup leader]( Xander Schauffele will be there to try and keep Tiger from claiming No. 8. And in case that wasnât enough, Tiger also committed to play at the Genesis Open at Riviera next month. [PGA TOUR LIVE]( will be everywhere to cover all the action.

[GOING LONg](
That swing. That touch. That mentality. Adam Long isnât one to flinch. [He won the Desert Classic]( by draining a 14-foot birdie putt on the final hole, earning him a check worth $1.602 million. When he wakes up to 300 text messages, and an entry to THE PLAYERS Championship, he might still think he's dreaming. A comeback against a 43-time TOUR winner in Phil Mickelson, [who shot a ridiculous 60 on Thursday](, and the man who tears it up in the California desert, Adam Hadwin, (who's 84 under par in his last 16 rounds here) may have seemed like a long shot. But Adam Long was the man for the job.

[DESERT DELIGHTS](
There was nothing boring about the desert last week. [Grayson Murray gave a whole new meaning to getting up and down]( from the massive bunker on the 16th hole, and some pros played spin the wheel on the range, [resulting in some wacky shots](. And in a touching moment, [Sam Saunders was presented with some rarely seen photos]( of his late grandfather, the great Arnold Palmer, who had quite the history at the Desert Classic. âI feel like Iâve seen all the pictures, so seeing something new is kind of cool,â Saunders said.

[AGAINST ALL ODDS](
Thereâs no way José de Jesús RodrÃguez should be on the PGA TOUR. Considering all the hardships and tragedies he has endured, most would have thrown in the golf towel. Instead, [RodrÃguez has used it as motivation and is now on the biggest stage in professional golf](. His mental toughness began early, when as a child he and his family would sometimes go days without food. Later, he honed his swing with a piece of construction rebar, and when he was hired as a maintenance worker at a golf course he played every day after work. It was now in his blood, and he was good. But there would be more hardships to overcome, including when his good friend and sponsor was murdered. RodrÃguez found a way to carry on. His journey took him through the professional ranks, and he started to win, including on PGA TOUR Latinoamerica and on the Web.com Tour, where he became known for his [friendly personality and talking lovingly to his golf ball](. And now he has his PGA TOUR card. âI play like itâs the last day of my life,â RodrÃguez said.
