Over the weekend, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) took to CBS News' "Face The Nation" to call on Israel to "de-escalate" following a heinous and unprovoked attack from Hezbollah. Yes, you read that right. Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist group, launched strikes from Lebanese soil that killed 12 innocent children inside Israel. But according to Schumer, the real problem here is making sure things don't escalate further. Priorities, right? Shavua tov from Europe. I'm heartbroken. 12 Israeli children from the Druze community were killed while playing soccer. They're dead because of Iran's proxy, Hezbollah, which consistently targets civilians. Look at these kids' faces. Where is the outrage? [pic.twitter.com/D9VNY3d8GF]( - Dr. Alexandra Herzog??? (@alexandratali25) [July 27, 2024]( Schumer did acknowledge the obvious - that Iran and its surrogates, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, are the "real evil" in the region. He noted that Israel has every right to defend itself against such terror groups. In an almost laughable twist, Schumer highlighted the indiscriminate nature of the attack, pointing out that the missiles killed Arab children. Because clearly, the terrorists' lack of concern for whom they target is the shocking revelation here. Where is Kamala? There are 12 dead Israeli children, we are a day later and SILENCE FROM [@KamalaHarris](! Jewish-Americans, are you paying attention? Is she hanging out with her Hezbollah-affiliated friends? [pic.twitter.com/P2eHs82rEr]( - Ellie Cohanim (@EllieCohanim) [July 28, 2024]( But wait, there's more! Schumer then emphasized that no one wants a wider war, expressing his hope for moves to "de-escalate." Apparently, responding appropriately to an unprovoked attack that kills children might be too much for Schumer's taste. "We know that Iran, through its surrogates, Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, is really the real evil in this area," [Schumer said](. "And Israel has every right to defend itself against Hezbollah, like they do against Hamas. It's sort of - it shows you how bad Iran and its surrogates are. These were Arab kids they shot out. They don't care - they sent missiles at. And they don't even care who that is." "But having said that, I don't think anyone wants a wider war," he continued. "So I hope there are moves to de-escalate." Let's not forget that this is the same Schumer who refused to shake hands with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the U.S. last week. Why, you ask? Because of "serious disagreements" over Israel's war against Hamas, the very group responsible for the unprecedented October 7 attack last year. Schumer's refusal to show basic diplomatic respect to Netanyahu speaks volumes about his stance on Israel defending itself. In response to the rocket attack on a soccer field in Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Israel's retaliatory airstrikes against Hezbollah targets within Lebanon, Senate Majority Leader [@SenSchumer]( says, "Israel has every right to defend itself against Hezbollah like they do? [pic.twitter.com/ddRDGH3CBr]( - Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) [July 28, 2024]( It's astounding to see where some politicians draw the line. Here's hoping Schumer's wish for "de-escalation" doesn't come at the expense of Israel's right to protect its citizens from murderous terrorists. Stay tuned, folks - this saga is far from over.
