THINGS TO KNOW
Breaking the Silence
The collective outcry against extreme violence rang across America during the March for Our Lives movement, providing a nationwide platform for our countryâs youth and adults to speak up and speak out on the issue. The movement has become a revolutionary style of protest with the Gen Z crowd leading the charge, mixing pop culture influences with âcorporate cooperationâ â a unique blend of pop and protest that has resonated among people of all backgrounds. At the March for Our Lives D.C. rally, women accounted for 70 percent of the crowd, according to a poll of 256 people taken by [MSNBC]( while a surprising number of protesters were older, averaging 49.
Many of us at Participant Media were proud to join the cause in Los Angeles, marching alongside those who were passionate about sharing their unique perspectives â some of which made us smile, made us think and made us look at the issue through a new lens.
In support of those marching at the event, Seventeen magazine took part in having thirty students watch the upcoming RBG documentary, from Magnolia Pictures, Participant Media and CNN Films, during their bus ride from New York City to the March for Our Lives event in Washington, D.C. Click here to [watch]( the interview with Seventeen's Executive Editor Joey Bartolomeo. RBG opens in theaters on May 4.
