PPS-SF Announces Digital Equity Program Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco’s (PPS-SF) Digital Equity program aims to increase digital literacy that will help to reduce the opportunity gaps present in communities of color or low-income. There is an immense need for this program in local communities, especially in disadvantaged communities. In order to close this digital divide, a digital literacy program that trains parents about the value of digital literacy was created. PPS-SF provides training on topics such as accessing the internet affordably as well as filling out digital forms. The program also focuses on parents’ needs by providing training related to the San Francisco Unified School District’s (SFUSD) online portal for parents as well as training on G-Suite, the online education environment that is used for academic planning and learning. Additional topics include: The Value of Using Online Services, Using Email and Online Calendars, Providing Free or Low-cost Internet Access to Neighborhoods with Limited or No Access, and Navigating the SFUSD Enrollment Process.
