Hi, I’m Brian Maher… [The Daily Reckoning] March 04, 2024 [UNSUBSCRIBE]( Welcome to The Daily Reckoning! [Brian Maher] BRIAN
MAHER Dear New Reader, If you missed [Andrew’s announcement,]( let me be the first to welcome you to The Daily Reckoning. You've come to the right place. I'm The Daily Reckoning’s managing editor, Brian Maher. Here at The Daily Reckoning, we've been providing independent financial forecasting and commentary since 1999 — longer than anyone else in the newsletter business, I’m proud to say. From Y2K to the 2008 financial crisis to bitcoin to COVID to the latest AI craze… From United States presidents 42–46 to Federal Reserve chairmen 13–16… From the never-ending roster of fools, scoundrels, frauds, knaves, rogues, ne’er-do-wells, world improvers, lunatics and pitchmen who besiege us daily... The Daily Reckoning has suffered through them all. Nothing, and no one, is sacred. We don’t hesitate to point a mocking finger at the frauds, scalawags and numbskulls of the world, no matter how rich or powerful. But we endure them with a wry, smirking detachment — even a tinge of sympathy at times. They’re only human after all. And so are we. Our sole purpose is to help you profit from the deeper trends the mainstream press has overlooked — or won’t tell you about. We try to help you connect the dots between your bank account, the markets, and decisions made in Washington and elsewhere around the world. We do our best to forecast booms, busts and bad endings on your behalf. But that doesn’t mean we always get it right. We don’t. Sometimes we get it downright wrong. We don't have a crystal ball — and we wouldn't want one. (Where would be the fun in that?) We can't tell you the exact moment of the next stock market crash, pinpoint the weekday that the Federal Reserve will finally be defrocked of its exorbitant privilege, or reveal when the dollar will cease being the world's reserve currency. What we can do is take a different approach than what you'll find within the pages of The Wall Street Journal. And all we can promise you is an honest effort. We’ll be writing you six days a week, at approximately 6:00 p.m. EST (around 10:30 AM on Saturdays). Each issue is dedicated to help you make sense of, and profit from (or at the very least, laugh at) the crazy worlds of finance, economics and politics. We know the world of money isn't just bankers, balance sheets and stock markets. Or energy and technology. It's all these pieces together that make up the larger story. We’ll try to show you how they all tuck together. And we hope you'll write us with your feedback. It’s a two-way street around here, and we like to know what you’re thinking. You can reach us at feedback@dailyreckoning.com. Pat us on the back if you want, or rake us over the coals. We don’t mind. To help us put it all together, The Daily Reckoning has the distinct pleasure of working with the leading minds in economics, finance, banking, natural resources, science, and even... (gasp!) government. You’ll receive a special e-mail later today from one of those minds, Jim Rickards. Jim is a lawyer, economist, investment banker and best-selling author with over 40 years of experience working in capital markets. He’s also worked closely with the CIA on financial terrorism and has deeply connected contacts around the world, from leading central bankers to heads of state. So be sure to check your inbox later today. Thanks again for joining us. Warm regards, [Brian Maher] Brian Maher
