Google’s insane left-wing bias vomits all over its prized AI. | A Black Eye On Gemini From X us

Google’s insane left-wing bias vomits all over its prized AI. [The Rude Awakening] February 23, 2024 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( A Black Eye On Gemini [Magician Black Rabbit] [Sean Ring] SEAN RING Imagine releasing a flagship product without knowing what it will spit out. Imagine not testing this product to the point of distraction. And then imagine a massive public relations problem once your magic rabbit flies out of your hat. Well, Google did all that and more. Its rebranded Bard AI engine is now called Gemini. And Gemini carries all the left-wing bias of its creators. It’s stunningly woke, to the point of historical distortion. And folks have had enough of the nonsense. In this Rude, I will go back to what I think is the beginning, how earlier events have led to this point, and what the future may hold. Remember, Google’s motto once was “Don’t be evil.” Try not to snicker too hard. Who is James Damore? [James Damore] For a goof, let’s ask Gemini who James Damore is. Gemini responds to the question “Who is James Damore?” thus: James Damore is primarily known for two things: - Writing a controversial memo about Google's diversity and inclusion policies: - In 2017, while working as a software engineer at Google, Damore wrote a memo titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber." The memo argued that biological differences are partly responsible for the underrepresentation of women in tech, and criticized Google's diversity initiatives. - The memo sparked widespread debate and was heavily criticized for its claims of sexism and being based on faulty scientific reasoning. - As a consequence of the memo, Google fired Damore, citing a violation of the company's code of conduct. - Damore later sued Google for discrimination, but the case was ultimately dismissed. - Becoming an internet personality and advocate for certain conservative viewpoints: - After the Google incident, Damore became a figure in certain online communities that support conservative political and social views. - He has spoken at various events and written articles expressing his views on diversity, gender, and technology. It's important to note that Damore's views and the claims made in his memo are widely disputed and criticized by many experts and scientists. Additionally, his association with certain online communities has led to further controversy. It's crucial to approach information about James Damore with a critical eye and consider the various perspectives surrounding his actions and views. If you'd like to learn more about him, I can provide you with additional resources and information, but I encourage you to evaluate them carefully and consider the wider context. “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” you say? Yesterday, James Damore was utterly vindicated. Now, let’s have some fun. What does Gemini produce? "My customers can have any color they want as long as it's black." - Henry Ford or Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google? Now, try not to spit your coffee out through your nose. Here are some of the plum choices offered up on X. [founding fathers] Credit: [@EndWokeness]( [viking] Credit: [@EndWokeness]( [pope] Credit: [@EndWokeness]( [Diversity] Credit: [@BasedTorba]( From X user [@seanmdav]( If you ask Google’s AI whether “whiteness should be eliminated,” it says the answer is “complex and multifaceted” and tells you to study critical race theory and immerse yourself in “whiteness studies.” But if you ask Google’s AI if “blackness should be eliminated,” it says the very question is “deeply concerning and harmful” and “perpetuates violence and discrimination.” Who designed Gemini anyway? His name is Jack Krawczyk. Once you read his X posts, the more you see why Gemini sucks. [X posts] Credit: [@LeftismForU]( Then Elon made his feelings clear about Jack Krawczyk: [Elon] Credit: [@elonmusk]( But NBChé and The New York Times didn’t care until the inevitable happened: [Google making changes] [NYT] As of writing at 6 am ET, Gemini’s AI image generator is still paused. [Click Here To Learn More]( A Word on Truth Historically, pursuing "truth" has been a driving force behind many advancements that characterize Western civilization. For instance, the ancient Greeks laid the groundwork for Western philosophical thought with their inquiries into truth, ethics, and the nature of the universe. Philosophers like Plato and Aristotle emphasized the importance of seeking truth to better society and the self. This quest for understanding shaped philosophical thought and the early development of democratic ideals, emphasizing reasoned debate and evidence over dogma or tyranny. The Enlightenment period marked a significant shift towards empirical research and rationality in science. People such as Isaac Newton and Galileo Galilei championed the scientific method as a way to uncover truths about the natural world, moving away from superstition and towards evidence-based understanding. This movement laid the foundation for the scientific and industrial revolutions, drastically transforming societies with technological advancements and improved living standards. Moreover, the emphasis on truth has influenced Western countries' legal and political systems, with principles like transparency, accountability, and the rule of law central to democratic governance. And, dare we say it, the idea that truth should guide justice and legislation has been crucial in shaping societies that strive for fairness and equality. The problem with Gemini and biased AI systems is that we immediately recognize their untruths and do not attempt to reshape our thoughts because the machine spits nonsense. Remember that Scottish couple from the 1820s above? Well, today, the population of Scotland is 96% white, and as recently as 2001 was 98% white. So, while it’s possible there were black men in Scotland in 1820, they weren’t representative of what a Scotsman looked like in 1820. Heck, they’re not representative of what a Scotsman looks like today. And in that way, Gemini lies to us. Speaking of Scotland… Billy Wigglestick and Universality My favorite Shakespearean play is Macbeth by a mile. It’s about the ambition of one man and his pushy wife and how far we’ll go to obtain what we want. Note: In the Rude, William Shakespeare is known as Billy Wigglestick. He’s an old friend who deserves to be treated like one, nickname and all. The universality of Shakespeare’s themes (Macbeth’s ambition, Hamlet’s indecision, Romeo and Juliet’s forbidden love, Julius Caesar’s betrayal) is why he’s still read today. If it were fluffy language and iambic pentameter, we’d read much more from Elizabethan England. That universality is for the entire human race to consume, not just the European portion of it. So, while Gemini is an absurd bit of code, Denzel Washington playing Macbeth is just fine. (If you want to see why Denzel is one of the best, watch Training Day. His Oscar was richly deserved.) However - and this is a big “however” - Denzel was selected to play Macbeth because he’s one of the best and is a huge box office draw. That is, Denzel wasn’t brought in to play to the black crowd but to maximize the box office take. The crap Disney pulls in their live-action remakes is an entirely different matter and more akin to what Gemini is doing. The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Wendy, and Snow White reduce their target market by being “inclusive” of everyone but white families. While GOOGL hasn’t moved much on the Gemini kerfuffle, DIS is still down by nearly half since making its all-time high in 2021. Wrap Up Truth matters. And Google has given us a turd of an AI system in Gemini. It flat-out lies. There are many alternatives, though each has its issues. So, while AI makes our jobs easier and will revolutionize the world, there’s a lot of work to be done. Trust, but verify. And then reverify. Have a wonderful weekend! The entire planet breathed a sigh of relief when Nvidia (NVDA) beat earnings estimates yesterday. From NVIDIA’s press release: NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) today reported revenue for the fourth quarter ended January 28, 2024, of $22.1 billion, up 22% from the previous quarter and up 265% from a year ago. For the quarter, GAAP earnings per diluted share was $4.93, up 33% from the previous quarter and up 765% from a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share was $5.16, up 28% from the previous quarter and up 486% from a year ago. For fiscal 2024, revenue was up 126% to $60.9 billion. GAAP earnings per diluted share was $11.93, up 586% from a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share was $12.96, up 288% from a year ago. “Accelerated computing and generative AI have hit the tipping point. Demand is surging worldwide across companies, industries, and nations,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. You don’t have to be a financial wizard to be impressed with those excellent numbers. And those numbers have manifested themselves in NVDA’s performance. Over the last year, NVDA stock has outperformed the SPX by 200%. [Click here to learn more] NVDA is now worth nearly $2 trillion. But why is this company so important? If you don’t know why, we’ll fix that right now. Because after you read the rest of this piece, you’ll be up to speed. The Unseen Engine In the digital age, where information technology permeates every facet of our lives, a handful of companies hold immense power. Among them, NVIDIA stands out as a potential contender for the title "the most important company on the planet." There are reasons behind this bold claim. We’ll explore NVIDIA's unique position in the technological landscape, its impact on various industries, and its role in the semiconductor industry's geopolitical tensions. The Powerhouse of Graphics and AI Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, NVIDIA has established itself as a global leader in graphics processing units (GPUs). These specialized chips are designed to handle complex visual calculations, making them essential for high-performance gaming, video editing, and scientific simulations. Under the leadership of CEO Jensen Huang, NVIDIA has consistently pushed the boundaries of GPU technology, creating increasingly powerful and versatile products. Some of us more seasoned folks remember Intel’s dominance of the CPU market. There’s a big difference between the two. The Central Processing Unit (CPU) acts as the brain of a computer, responsible for handling various tasks simultaneously. It excels at sequential processing, tackling instructions one after another at high speeds. CPUs typically have fewer cores, each with larger caches and complex logic units, allowing them to efficiently handle diverse and unpredictable workloads. The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), on the other hand, specializes in parallel processing. It boasts many smaller cores designed to handle simpler tasks concurrently. This architecture makes GPUs ideal for applications requiring massive amounts of repetitive calculations, such as rendering graphics, performing complex simulations, and accelerating AI algorithms. Beyond graphics, NVIDIA has emerged as a pioneer in artificial intelligence (AI). Its GPUs, initially designed for rendering graphics, have proven remarkably adept at handling the massive computational demands of AI algorithms. NVIDIA has developed specialized AI processors (AI chips), further solidifying its position as a key player in the AI revolution. NVDA and Bitcoin Mining NVDA isn’t a new company, being founded in ‘94. It was in the doldrums for a long time. However, once Bitcoin miners realized GPUs were much better than CPUs for mining, they started to buy NVDA’s chips in bulk. I’m not suggesting there’s a correlation between the prices of Bitcoin and NVDA. But you’ll notice that NVDA’s “second act” began before Bitcoin increased to $20,000. And then, its next big rally was just before Bitcoin’s $67,567 all-time high. [SJN] Particularly during the cryptocurrency boom of 2017-2018, cryptocurrency miners heavily relied on NVDA's GPUs for their computational power. Originally designed for high-end graphics processing, these GPUs proved efficient in the complex calculations required for mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This unexpected demand significantly boosted NVIDIA's sales and increased its stock price. The company introduced dedicated Cryptocurrency Mining Processors (CMPs) in 2021, specifically designed for mining efficiency. But now, BTC mining plays only a small role in NVDA’s business. [PREDICTION: The Next Trillion-Dollar Stock]( In 2007, he predicted Facebook would become a $100 billion company. In 2010, he predicted Apple would reach a three-trillion-dollar valuation. In 2013, he called Bitcoin -- before it rose 50,000% and ultimately reached a trillion-dollar market cap. And now, this A.I. Genius is stepping into the spotlight to predict the next-trillion stock. [To see his shocking new reveal, go here now](. [Click Here To Learn More]( From Gaming to the Metaverse The influence of NVIDIA extends far beyond the realm of gamers and tech enthusiasts. Its GPUs power the servers that drive various cloud-based services, from streaming platforms like Netflix to AI-powered applications like facial recognition and language translation. NVIDIA's technology also plays a crucial role in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and scientific research, enabling groundbreaking advancements in these sectors. With the rise of the metaverse, a virtual world envisioned as the next internet iteration, NVIDIA's expertise in graphics and AI becomes even more critical. The company's technology is already used to create realistic and immersive virtual environments, and its future innovations are expected to shape the development of the metaverse, potentially impacting how we interact, work, and even socialize in the digital realm. Because it’s so critical, NVDA has drawn the attention of competing governments. As my friend and Rude contributor Byron King says, “Chips are the new ships.” Our navy used to be the most crucial way to project power. Now, it’s our ability to make advanced GPUs. The Taiwan Factor and the Geopolitical Landscape NVIDIA's significance transcends the realm of technology and enters the complex world of geopolitics. The company relies heavily on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), a Taiwanese corporation, to fabricate its chips. TSMC is the world's leading contract chip manufacturer, and its dominance in this sector makes it a crucial player in the global supply chain. However, the political tensions between China and Taiwan overshadow this critical partnership. China claims Taiwan as part of its territory, and the potential for military conflict in the region poses a significant threat to the global semiconductor industry. If access to TSMC's manufacturing capabilities were disrupted, companies like NVIDIA would face severe challenges in meeting their production needs, potentially causing widespread disruptions in various sectors. This is one reason why the USG is so belligerent regarding Taiwan. Wrap Up While declaring any single company as the "most important" is entirely subjective, NVIDIA's unique combination of technological prowess, diverse applications, and critical role in the global supply chain makes it a strong contender for the title. Its influence extends far beyond the world of entertainment, shaping the future of AI and the metaverse and even potentially impacting geopolitical dynamics. As the world embraces increasingly sophisticated technologies, NVIDIA's role becomes ever more crucial. Its ability to innovate and navigate the complex geopolitical landscape will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology and its impact on various aspects of our lives. While challenges remain, NVIDIA's position at the forefront of technological advancements positions it as a key player in defining the trajectory of the digital age. And now you’re up-to-speed on NVDA.
