There’s some doubt about whether it was a drone because 37 casualties is a large number for a drone attack. A larger missile is a possibility. There’s also some doubt about the reported Jordanian location; the attack could have been in Syria near the triple border of Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. But I thought I’d take today to explain why it’s so easy for America to get into wars. If there’s one thing we know about the crowd, it’s that everyone always seems to get excited at the wrong moment. These same speculators were throwing in the towel and selling every stock in sight in late October. Now, they’re loading up on meme stocks and growth names following a historic melt-up rally. It’s the perfect time for the market to humble the herd. But once the Biden administration decided to start bombing the Houthis on Jan. 11, all bets were off. An ill-advised US policy of airstrikes against the Houthis has been an enormous gift to them while in no way diminishing their ability to fulfill their mission.
