AI softens, crypto hardens, QC deepens [Altucher Confidential] October 24, 2023 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( AI makes things easy to fake. Crypto makes them hard again. Quantum computing makes them optimal. [Hero_Image] How to Think About AI, Crypto, and Quantum Computing [Chris Campbell] CHRIS CAMPBELL Dear Reader, In the age of uncertainty, losers try to be right. Winners aim to be less wrong. It’s an idea that can alter your entire investing paradigm in one split second. It presents you with a choice: You can live your entire life seeking absolutes, and waiting for certainties that never come. Or you can dance in the gray, navigate the complexity, and make quicker, more agile choices. Strong opinions, weakly held. Because? Being less wrong is way more valuable than being right. It also reveals the power of the heuristic -- a mental shortcut or rule of thumb that simplifies decision-making, even if it's not always perfectly correct. Where else are heuristics useful, you ask? Everywhere. Follow the Electrons By the way, heuristics have been around since at least the ancient Greeks -- the “rule of thumb” was Socrates’ preferred method of teaching. In the Renaissance, they were employed in the study of geometry and math. (The method of “exhaustion,” for example, was a heuristic used to find the area of curved shapes.) With the advent of computer science and AI, heuristics became important in algorithmic problem-solving. Heuristic search techniques like the A* search algorithm were developed to find solutions more efficiently than brute force methods. Some heuristics are more useful than others. When it comes to thinking about and investing in breakthrough technologies -- especially when it comes to the convergence of AI, crypto, and quantum computing -- this one is useful: Follow the Electrons: All technological progress depends on the increased sophistication of electron migration management. The more sophisticated and granular the management, the more advanced the technologies. Remember, this is just a heuristic, but… Throughout history, from harnessing fire for warmth to powering engines and hydraulic systems, a fundamental thread really is the management of electron migration. Fire involves redox reactions and electron transfer, while engines convert this energy, often with corrosion (due to inefficient electron management). Even hydraulic systems, though focused on insulation (whether electrical or to prevent leaks), deal with, even if indirect, how electrons move. Even the wheel, a marvel of human ingenuity, traces its creation to the human brain -- the greatest micromanager of electrons ever created. Obviously, the advent of electricity -- a quantum leap in micromanaging electrons -- was a turning point. Once we started honing electrons to deliver electricity around the world, the world changed at a rapid tick. The Internet is a sophisticated network of micromanaging electron migration in the form of 0s and 1s. Now, to the fun stuff. Crypto is a technology that micromanages electrons to give the digital sphere the same constraints of the physical world and (ideally) improves upon these constraints. (ex. digital scarcity that can’t be duplicated or forged, smart contracts that execute when specific conditions are met without intermediaries). Artificial Intelligence is a technology that micromanages electrons to make the digital world seemingly completely unbounded by the restraints of the physical world. Anything you can imagine can be produced instantly. Quantum computing represents the zenith of micromanaging electrons by focusing on controlling the electron’s quantum properties. By precisely managing these sophisticated behaviors, quantum systems can perform tasks that are unimaginably complex for traditional computers. Together, these technologies complement each other by offering a powerful synergy: AI can make sense of the massive datasets and complexities of the quantum and crypto worlds; crypto provides a secure, trustable foundation for these digital interactions; and quantum computing pushes the boundary of what's computationally possible, potentially revolutionizing both. [To see how to claim your upgrade, just click here now.]( Once you’re done with that, read on to see today’s issue… How to Look at It If I had to boil these three technologies down into three words: Manipulate. Secure. Optimize. AI makes things easy to fake. Crypto makes them hard again. Quantum computing makes them optimal. AI is artificial abundance. Crypto is artificial scarcity. Quantum computing is artificial depth. While the descriptions may not be right in an absolute sense, they serve as valuable mental frameworks for understanding how these technologies intersect and complement each other in various contexts. Remember, in the age of uncertainty… Losers try to be right. Winners try to be less wrong. More on the intersection of AI and crypto tomorrow. Stay tuned. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
