It’s the old one, too. [Altucher Confidential] June 27, 2023 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( Has climate become a religion? Doubtful. The answer is much simpler. [Hero_Image] Climate Isn’t the New Religion By: Chris Campbell Attention! Before You Read Any Further… [James Altucher]( Hey, it’s James. Before you read any further in today’s issue, an urgent situation needs your immediate attention. If you don’t plan on claiming this upgrade to your Altucher’s Investment Network subscription, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity. Right now is your chance to grab one of the biggest (and most valuable) upgrades our company has ever made to a newsletter. [To see how to claim your upgrade, just click here now.]( Once you’re done with that, read on to see today’s issue… [Chris Campbell] CHRIS CAMPBELL Dear Reader, “You heard of the Boston Tea Party?” the irate man said outside NYC’s City Hall. “Well this is the New York pizza party!” “Give us pizza or give us death!” he chanted as flipped open a pizza box and began chucking slices over the fence. “Give us pizza or give us death!” [ALC] The Boston Tea Party, you’ll recall, was a rebellion against a 2% tax on tea. Obviously, those were different times. Today, we suffer daily checkbook deaths by a thousand taxes. But the “Pizza Rebellion” isn’t in response to taxes. Not directly, at least. It’s a reaction to NYC’s new rules that would order pizza joints to slice carbon emissions by 75%. Meaning, they have to either get rid of the coal and wood-fired ovens, or purchase expensive emissions scrubbers… Or else. [ALC] But, yes. Your suspicions are correct. This is bigger than just a deep dish. The Climate Change Has Changed The Pizza Rebellion is only a microcosm for a growing global trend: the pursuit of solutions, by hook or by crook, to climate change. For example, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently said that "taxing drivers by the mile" shows a lot of promise. It could not only help save the planet, he said, but it could also be a way to fund infrastructure. ECB boss Christine Lagarde has just claimed that inflation is due to climate change. Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with monetary policy. Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with throwing a wrench in global supply chains, either. Or the complementary global lockdowns. Or the war. (I’ll get to the war.) To be fair, there is one global climate that’s changing at breakneck speed: the political one. And you’ll need to pay more taxes to sustain it, as France’s Macron has proposed for the world. [ALC] Over 62 And Collect Social Security? Take Action Immediately! [James Altucher]( [If you’re over the age of 62 and currently collect Social Security, you need to prepare now](. Because Biden has given our country the worst inflation in decades – and many warn things will only get worse from here. Worse yet, the Social Security check you receive now may not keep pace with inflation… [Which is why, if you don’t act now, you could fall behind in the months ahead](. Is your retirement at immediate risk? [Click here now to get the simple, step-by-step actions to survive inflation](. The Old Religion There are those who steadfastly believe that the worldwide eco-friendly movement is methodical and rooted in science, carefully engineered to assess the probable risks and benefits. Yet, there are others who counter this stance, likening the global green push to a form of faith. Let’s consider the latter idea first. In her book Sexual Persona, Camille Paglia proposed that the evolution of human spirituality was a transition from Earth-centric to Sky-centric faith systems. There were the Earth deities… [ALC] And there were sky deities… [ALC] When humans found themselves at the mercy of natural forces, religious beliefs tended to be grounded in the Earth and the Earth deities took prominence. Yet, as mankind's power and control over their environment expanded, so did their spiritual focus ascend. Consequently, the gods of the skies took the reins. A theory: As the world becomes more and more complex, the elites and experts feel their mastery and influence over the world beginning to slip. To conceal their intentions for more control, they regress into a nostalgia for primordial Earth-worship. The world follows suit. Just as the Aztecs might’ve thrown a virgin into a volcano so the gods would deliver a fruitful harvest… Our sacrifices -- even those as trivial as getting rid of wood-fired pizza ovens -- are performances to appease the Earth goddess. (How many times have we heard from apparently hard-nosed scientifically-led that the “Earth is angry.”) As entertaining as this theory might be, there’s a simpler explanation. No Matter the Cost In [this video]( environmentalist Rachel takes her local council to task about their green policies. In it, she points out all of the problems with the so-called net zero policies. “These so-called green solutions aren’t solutions at all,” she concluded. “Just very good marketing from the $1.5 trillion a year climate change industry. That’s $4 billion a day.” By the way, that’s not even the REAL elephant in the room. If our leaders were truly genuine in their concern for the environment, wouldn't we see a profound shift in our handling of the greatest environmental adversary? No… I’m not talking about Bitcoin. (Heh.) I’m talking about war. [pub] Occam’s Razor suggests the answer is much simpler. “Climate change doesn’t respect national borders,” said our colleague Jim Rickards. “If you have a global problem, then you can justify global solutions. A global tax plan to pay for global climate change infrastructure with world money is the end game.” That’s the plan, says Rickards: “World money, world inflation, and world taxation.” By the way, Rickards said all of this [back in 2017]( concluding that: “This will be playing out in the next few years.” Was he right?
