For the rest of this week, it’s unicorns and rainbows. | Only Good News, As Promised! - There?

For the rest of this week, it’s unicorns and rainbows. [The Rude Awakening] December 21, 2022 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( Only Good News, As Promised! - There’s such a shortage of good news that I googled “good news” to find some. - At the top of the ranking is a website called The Good News Network. - I wish I hadn’t. It’s the most obnoxious page on the internet. Ok, maybe not. [REVEALED: How Biden will End America]( If you suspected President Biden is intentionally destroying America, you are right! [And this Congressional document proves it](. And once he implements the last phase of his plan… You might lose access to your bank account, your credit card, your life savings and your retirement benefits, including social security… all just because of your political views. [Click here and learn the five steps you need to take to protect yourself](. [Click Here To Learn More]( [Sean Ring] SEAN RING Happy Hump Day and Winter Solstice! It’s the shortest day of the year today, so we’ll have more sunshine tomorrow. There. That’s the first piece of good news. Pam and I shared an excellent bottle of Alta Langhe sparkling white wine last night. Unbeknownst to me, it was indeed an [Asti Spumante](. Usually, the spumante (sparking) wines from around here are about as sickly sweet as the stories I’m about to share. But this one was lovely, actually. No toothaches that I can detect, anyway. [SJN] James Suckling, who teaches a wine appreciation course, [gives the 2015 vintage a 93/100]( which shocked me. We had the 2018 vintage, which xtrawine gives 91/100. As for me, I’m quite binary when it comes to wine: does it taste good or not? This one definitely tastes good, but it didn’t make my hair grow back. The reason I like this wine so much is the grapes. Most sparkling wines around here use Moscato grapes - Muscat in French and English. I may be a chocoholic, but the sweetness drives me nuts. Contratto uses a mix of 20% Chardonnay and 80% Pinot Nero. It’s much better on the palate. If you want some bubbly over the holidays but don’t want to spend on Veuve, Bollinger, or Taittinger - or you just hate the French - [Contratto]( is an excellent choice. I may just buy a case of it after I’m done writing, so I don’t have to shop over Christmas. Ok, that’s the end of today’s wine lesson. Let’s get into the feel-good stories I promised you. [Urgent Winter Warning From Jim Rickards]( [Click here to learn more]( I just recorded an urgent warning in the freezing cold of Baltimore to reveal a devastating scam that the radical Democrats are pulling on the citizens of Maryland here and countless other states. Because according to my research, Joe Biden has already set in motion a devastating series of events thanks to his party’s radical “Green New Scam” policies… Soaring resource costs, crashing markets, chaos on Wall Street… Nothing can be ruled out leading up to December 21st. But if you know what to do, you could “opt-out” of this winter nightmare… And happily heat your home and fuel your life while potentially 15X’ing your money in the next 90 days IF you know what moves to make… [Click here for all the details.]( [Click Here To Learn More]( [World’s First Hovering Robot That Collects Rare Minerals From Sea Floor Allows Industry to Ditch Dredging]( I get a great laugh from UN workers who live in 3 x 5 cockroach-infested NYC apartments who think they know more about nature than your average hunter who just happens to vote Republican. It’s one of the great absurdities of our times. And yes, I think the Green New Deal is a complete fraud. But that doesn’t mean I want Mother Earth to resemble a post-apocalyptic hellscape. I live an hour from the Alps one way and an hour from the Mediterranean in the other direction. I want clean air and clean water. And I want polluting companies prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Please read what [I think about Jack Welch]( if you haven’t already. So I welcome news like this, as long as it’s real. From the piece: Impossible Metals recently proved that it’s possible to harvest these nodules with precision and smart learning rather than dredging with large destructive plows. Their method is Eureka 1, the world’s first undersea selective mining robot. Full of lithium, nickel, and cobalt, the nodules could provide battery manufacturing with a more sustainable supply that doesn’t involve carbon-intensive mining, and avoids the geopolitical difficulties associated with pursuing these minerals in conflict zones or unstable states. “Our harvesting machines don’t touch the seafloor,” said Renee Grogan, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Co-founder. “What we’re designing is a fleet of underwater robotic vehicles. And they are not tethered to the vessel. They don’t make contact with the seabed. They hover above it.” Once hovering above an area of seabed, an AI-powered computer will pick out nodules from other matter and command a host of horseshoe crab-like grabber arms on the underside of the robot to pick them up and feed them through a hose into a collection chamber. Very cool, though I’m not sure how scalable it is. [Aggressive Leukemia Disappears in 13-Year-old Girl Who was First to Receive New CRISPR Treatment](. I think this technology, CRISPR, has a long way to go. Though the stock CRSP is down terribly this year, if this technology keeps getting results like this, it may rocket again soon. From the piece: In the latest CRISPR success story, a 13-year-old girl whose leukemia had not responded to other treatments now has no detectable cancer cells. She received a dose of immune cells that were genetically edited to attack the leukemia, a method that’s been used with other cancers. A form of cancer in the bone marrow tissue, leukemia is caused by mutated immune cells and is normally treated by killing all bone marrow cells in the patient’s body before receiving a transplant from a donor. If this falls, the Nobel Prize-winning CAR-T cell therapy can be used instead. This was the case of Alyssa, a 13-year-old girl from the UK, who received a dose of common immune system weapons called T cells that had been modified to attack cancerous cells in her body. To avoid the extreme costs associated with this, the Great Ormond Street Hospital team at University College London further modified the donor T cells. And just in time for the holidays. God bless her and her family. [Swedish Firm to Unlock the Electricity of the Sea with the Largest Wave Power Station in the World]( I’m not a scientist, but I’ve never understood why this hasn’t been a thing sooner. From the piece: Turkey will soon host the world’s largest tidal power station—a 77-megawatt system of large pier-like machines that generate clean energy from the sea’s endless rhythm. Swedish firm Eco Wave Power (EWP) entered into the agreement for the potential construction in Ordu, Turkey, starting with a small pilot project. EWP said that if it proves viable, the estimated $150 million power station would be Turkey’s first grid-connected tidal energy station, and upon completion, would be the biggest in the world. Anchored to structures such as jetties or seawalls, the rising and falling motion of the waves powers hydraulic pistons inside the metal hulls—called “floaters”—which in turn powers a turbine on land which then sends energy to the grid via an inverter. This kind of innovation is beyond brilliant. And if it works, it’s a genuine renewable, clean, green energy source. Or would this be “blue” energy? Bonus: [Residents of Tiny Village in Belgium Will be Sharing a Massive Lottery Win, Taking Home $915,000 Each – Tax-Free]( Playing the lottery is a tax on people who are bad at statistics. But since the government is getting nothing from these villagers, that alone makes it a feel-good story. Wrap Up That wasn’t so bad, was it? A good news edition of the Rude - weird, but ok. I’ll be back tomorrow with more good news. I think. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
